Jolemai
I've unearthed a pot of Citadel Colour Armour Wash. This is blue lid era paint and despite learning to paint during this time, it's not one I recall noticing. What do folk know about it and should I use it like one would use Nuln Oil? GawFang
If I remember right its got a blue colour to it. Just wash it over silver. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/337280-citadel-colour-armour-wash/#findComment-4836434 Share on other sites
Stercus
It's not bad. It's not got as much pigment in it as nuln oil by it sinks into the crevices well and leaves a good shine on the raised areas. Semper Fortis
Oooooh, armour wash! I used to go through a lot of that stuff. As GawFang says, its got a blue tinge to it. But it's primarily a black wash for use over iron/silver colors. As a matter of fact, I usually put just a touch of blue in my nuln oil for steel. I guess I was subconsciously trying to recreate it. Magos Takatus
Wasn't armour wash more like an ink than the shades we are now used to? I seem to recall tide lines if not applied sparingly. I used to find it handy for blacklining panels. I don't have anything like that in my current paint set. Chaplain Killmer
The armor was was a bit stronger than the new washes. I used to apply it over my complete marine mini (Dark Angels green) it gave a very nice overall effect.
