Acebaur
Do units in transports count for this? So lets say I have a drop pod and put a unit in it. That counts as two units for the purposes of whats in reserve correct? Likewise a unit inside a rhino counts for whats on the table? Thanks, Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/337357-50-reserve-rule/ Share on other sites
Brother Captain Sirus
I believe it counts all the units inside as on the table, as technically they are. They are just deployed as one unit. Jacinda
So lets say I have a drop pod and put a unit in it. That counts as two units for the purposes of whats in reserve correct? Correct. Each single deployment choice may contain more than one unit. All of those units are counted individually when determining the reserves percentage. Toasterfree
units inside a transport do not count for units on the table. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/337357-50-reserve-rule/#findComment-4838945 Share on other sites
Medicinal Carrots
RAW, units in transports do not count as being on the battlefield (they are specified to be removed from the battlefield). This may be unintended, but by a strict reading of the Tactical Reserves rule, you have to set up at least half of your units on the battlefield, so you have to have at least half of your units deploy on the table outside of transports. Most people seem to be playing it that units deployed in transports count towards the 50% on the battlefield, and it seems that may be what was intended. Brother Captain Sirus
Seems like a strange oversight, but not to worry as long as you are only deep striking one or two units it shouldnt be an issue Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/337357-50-reserve-rule/#findComment-4839312 Share on other sites
Acebaur
Yeah I was asking because I have a list in mind that would be literally half the army coming in from reserve. Brother Captain Sirus
Its going to make things difficult unless you are taking multiple units on foot i think. Acebaur
Well does a unit In a drop pod count as one unit or 2 for this rule? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/337357-50-reserve-rule/#findComment-4839327 Share on other sites
Brother Captain Sirus
It will be classed as 2 units in reserve, so you'd need 2 units on table for each pod Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/337357-50-reserve-rule/#findComment-4839365 Share on other sites
Eddie Orlock
... Most people seem to be playing it that units deployed in transports count towards the 50% on the battlefield, and it seems that may be what was intended.Indeed. We've discussed this before in recent memory. http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/335758-deploying-loaded-transports-on-the-board/?p=4800591 We can divorce the concepts of being physically on the table and notionally 'at the battlefield' to allow for a rule reading that both fits the text and matches common practice. So, yes, a unit in a rhino counts as two on the field to balance out a unit in a drop pod.
