Bishoujo
Played my first game of 8th edition this past weekend. We used the weekly mission. Attacker: Orks - 51 Power Level Warboss on Bike Deffdread 30 Boys w/ Nob 4 Deffkoptas 6? Commandos w/ Nob Defender: Sisters of Battle - 49 Power Level Canoness 5 Battle Sisters - Flamer/Heavy Flamer 5 Battle Sisters - Flamer/Heavy Flamer 5 Battle Sisters - Flamer/Heavy Flamer 5 Dominions - 4x Meltagun 5 Dominions - 4x Meltagun 5 Retributors - 4x Heavy Bolter Exorcist We played on a 4x4 table and as the defender deployment zone was only 12" from the board edge, I didn't have much room. Retrbutors were in the back left corner with a squad of Battle Sisters to their right and the Canoness in the middle. Exorcist was in the back right corner with 2 squads of Battle Sisters in front of it. 2x Immolators in the middle and the Dominions riding inside. The Orks deployed as far forward as they could as they would go first unless I could roll a 6 (I didn't) except for his Commandos which he kept in reserve. Top of Turn 1 Ork player moved his boys, deffdread, deffkoptas and warboss as far forward as they could go. He did an advance roll with the boys and deff dread and got 6's for both. He used the attacker stratagem to let his boys and deff dread charge after advancing. His deffkoptas fired on one of the Immolators and took it to 4 wounds. Then he charged with everything. Deffdread charged the Canoness. Boys charged the Battle Sisters closest to her. Deffkoptas charged one of the Battle Sisters squads defending the Exorcist and the Warboss charged the other one. Canoness took a wound. Battle Sisters near her got wiped by the Boys. Deffkoptas killed 3 Sisters (Superior and Heavy Flamer remaining) and the Warboss killed 4 (Superior remaining). Bottom of Turn 1 Roll for Act of Faith. 1. Crap... Oh well, still have Faith, time to go to work. Retreat with the Canoness and both Battle Sisters squads. Dominions pop out from the Immolators as stuff is already in range. Dominion Squad 1 fires at the Deffdread and does some wounds. Dominion Squad 2 + Immolator 2 fires at the Deffkoptas and kill 3. Exorcist rains fire down on the Warboss and wipes him from the table. Retributors fire into the Boys squad, as does Immolator 1 and they do a good chunk of wounds. Immolator 1 charges into the Boys to protect the Dominions. Top of Turn 2 Kommandos deploy on the Exorcist side of the board and move towards the remaining Battle Sisters there. Deffdread charges Canoness again and kills her. Boys do 4 wounds to Immolator 1. Deffkopta charges into Battle Sister squad and kills the Superior (leaving just the Heavy Flamer). Commandos charge the Sister Superior and kill her. Bottom of Turn 2 Roll for Act of Faith. Success! Dominion Squad 1 fires meltas into Deffdread and kill it. Immolator 1 retreats from Boys. Heavy Flamer Sister retreats from Deffkopta. Retributors and Dominion Squad 1 fire into Boys and finish them. Dominion Squad 2 and Immolator 2 fire into Commandos and wipe them out. Exorcist fires at Deffkopta and misses all shots. Top of Turn 3 Deffkopta fires at Heavy Flamer Sister and kills her. Deffkopta charges Exorcist and dies to overwatch fire. Victory: Sisters of Battle Casualties - Sisters of Battle: 15 Battle Sisters 1 Canoness Casualties - Orks: All Random thoughts - The ability to retreat from combat is amazing. No longer do our Sisters have to just sit there waiting their turn to get chewed up in hand to hand. Positioning is so important now to keep squads together, as we want to be close enough to retreat with 1 squad and fire with the other - but not close enough to both get assaulted. Only had the one act of faith, but it was a clutch one. Had a lot of fun and got a lot of compliments for the army. Played at a nearby Warhammer store and apparently both Sisters and Orks are a rarity on their tables, let alone painted. I'm a dummy and was so worried about not making mistakes in my first game in a long time (haven't played since 5th edition) that I completely forgot about taking pictures. Next time!
