Brother Augustine
So, do all Primaris Chapters have a tactical equivalent of squads like Devastators and Bike Squads since they don't have the older squads to fill in their gaps? I know that in game the squads are designed (theoretically) to prevent the older models from being completely obsolete, but that would make these newer chapters much less flexible in the grander scheme of the fluff. So do they just try to compensate for these shortcomings using only the standard Primaris squads or do they adapt within the confines of their new chapters? D3L
at the moment there isn't any other fluff than that you wish to make for yourself before you purchase the latest and greatest in super-sized-supermenin time, there will be the models you speak ofthink of this as a transitional period Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/337493-concerning-primaris-chapters/#findComment-4841114 Share on other sites
Fallen Dark Angel
You could probably kit bash a few Hellblasters to hold other heavy weapons. Bike models would be trickier, probably looking like a heavy trike to bear a Primaris. jeffersonian000
There is no need for the codex standard unit types, Primaris are set up differently with their own unit types and combat style. They will gain new units, not newer versions of older units. Shinespider
The SM codex says almost nothing about Primaris-only chapters, which I assume is because they didn't want to draw an incomplete picture. We'll hear more about them once the model range is filled out a bit. Tyberos the Red Wake
So, do all Primaris Chapters have a tactical equivalent of squads like Devastators and Bike Squads since they don't have the older squads to fill in their gaps? So do they just try to compensate for these shortcomings using only the standard Primaris squads or do they adapt within the confines of their new chapters? I think this question has been asked here before. My guess is GW won't be filling these missing gaps with old roles. GW is making completely unique roles for them so far so they'll just continue filling the gaps with new Primaris types. It would be very interesting if many years later, GW decided to replace old marine models completely, and made things like Primaris Devastators or Primaris Assault Marines, and simply took the old models and made them Primaris sized and said that the lore was just that all old marines are either dead or ugpraded to Primaris, or have taught new Primaris their old roles. Brother Augustine
I've heard several people mention that, can regular marines actually be upgraded to Primaris status? Shinespider
Someone said so in an interview a few months ago, but it hasn't come up in any of the writing.
