Master Toddius
Hail Brothers. Its been a few years since I posted a project on the B&CS but I couldn't pass up the Dark Angel Painting Competition. It is my first Primaris Marine. I've converted it to fit the competition rules of taking a LT and making him into a Champion. The deadline is September 31st. So far the model was chosen, converted, and the green base coat has been applied. There will probably be several weekly updates on my progress. Come along with me on this paladin project adventure I Took parts from each LT and combined them to make this guy:Took some bits from the Ravenwing Sprues, the Sternguard Vets Sprue, and the Dark Angels Vets Sprues. Cut here a snip there and some green stuff to smooth the gaps. Grotsmasha
So very cool :tu: I'm particularly a fan of the wings on the ankles, it's a nice, subtle touch. Master Toddius
Hi guys!So I finally had some time to paint on this model and have completed the green on one of the legs. Now that i'm satisfied I'll move unto the rest of the green areas of the figure. I tend to paint each section of the model to the completion of the color at a time. Don't know about you guys but its more enjoyable to accomplish smaller goals during a project than one giant goal. Question/Critiques are welcomed. Master Toddius
The green armor is complete. Moving on to all the other details! ^^^^^ That image came out crappy. The Cork and pin screwed up the focus and lighting settings. It'll look better when mounted on the model.Comments and critiques welcomed as always :) Spaced Hulk, Grotsmasha and Raztalin 3 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/337498-dark-angel-paladin-zaal-9232017-vow-complete/#findComment-4862637 Share on other sites

Master Toddius
Almost there. Dealing with a stressful event happening to a family member, and i've realized how important this hobby is to keep me sane. Slowing the heart rate, focusing on the paint / model / methodology, breathing slowly - all benefits to be gained. The Champion Zaal is almost complete, just need to do the blade and shoulder pad (add wings to the sword) plus a few other little details. And then unto designing / constructing / painting the base. As usual - comments, questions, and critiques are welcomed :) Spaced Hulk, Grotsmasha, The Traitor and 4 others 7 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/337498-dark-angel-paladin-zaal-9232017-vow-complete/#findComment-4875711 Share on other sites
Komodo
Very creative Lieutenant. Great paintjob too. I like you colder bluish green hue. What colors are you using? Very nice blending on NMM on angel icon, smooth. Spaced Hulk
Very impressive model Todd  . Been following your work on this and both the conversion and painting really are superb. The little touches like the skull exhausts and the wing icons on the legs are especially cool. Looking forward to seeing him completed. Master Toddius
Ok, So the model apart from the base is finally done. I apologize for the pics being a little bleached out - still figuring out lighting and my camera settings. I haven't taken model shots since 2008. Duck out of water at the moment. Very creative Lieutenant. Great paintjob too. I like you colder bluish green hue. What colors are you using? Very nice blending on NMM on angel icon, smooth. Thanks, Komodo. I use a combination of Vallejo Game Colors. Base is Dark Green, Highlights and mids mixed with Dark Green is Jade Green. I also use the model colors Blue Green and Emerald to get some of the mid tones as well. And the smooth is accomplished with wet blending mixed with some Vallejo Green Ink. Very impressive model Todd . Been following your work on this and both the conversion and painting really are superb. The little touches like the skull exhausts and the wing icons on the legs are especially cool. Looking forward to seeing him completed. Thanks a Bunch, Spaced. The model is now done, on to the Base. Probably themed as industrial ruins. Comments / Critiques / Questions welcomed as usual.
