So how did everyone fair in the name of the Allfather?

I sadly only got in one game, being a busy Father. And I failed. I played against Tau with two Y'vahra forgeworld suits. If you haven't fought one of these, you're lucky. I expected my opponent to have one, but he scratch built a second. I killed both of his Y'vahras with their plasma flamers from hell, but lost almost all of my stuff. I killed 8 units, but he got 13 across my defenders line. It was fun though, especially with a large citadel building in the middle that my Wulfen and Arjac piled into and slugged it out with breachers and commanders in suits. It all came down to Arjac, murdering unit after unit, but it just wasn't enough.

Next week will be interesting, we have such a big community now that has come back in anbig way with this edition, Lord knows what chaos or Xenos I'll kill next week.

I was able to get in a couple of games at my local GW. Because of limited table space, both games were 2v2. I paired up with two different imperial guard dudes. In both cases we faced off against death guard plus other chaos marines.

It was the same death guard player in both games and he was trying to be cute with pox walker hordes which didn't play well to the objectives. We mostly ignored his large blobs of pox walkers supported by typhus, bell dude, and one some other death guard dude that allowed rerolls of 1s on disgustingly risilient rolls...instead we focused on units we could kill quickly to rack up points, only shooting at pox walker blobs that got close enough to pose a threat. I kind of felt sorry for the guy's partner in each case as we fairly blatantly focused on them instead.

The idea was to rack up easy victory points knowing that even if every pox walker unit got a model in scoring position, the most those units could score was 5 points (5 big blobs at the outset.)

The first game we won easy...my partner rolled a 6 to seize which was clutch. We killed many units, and in our final turn Bjorn smote typhus' ruin at the Quintus Gate. Second game was more difficult as the blobs got on us quick (no seize) but we managed a narrow victory. No warlords felled in that game but we managed to kill a couple more units than they were able to put in scoring position.

I managed to play 1 game against a friend. He was ruining a wraith footdar army. Final score was 6 Imperium to 5 Elder. He had 3 units of wraithblades with swords, 3 units of wraithguard with wraithcannons, spirit seer, wraithlord, wraith knight. I had jump pack Lord, wolf priest, 15 blood claws, 20 grey hunters, 10 skyclaws, 5 plasma fangs, rhino, razorback, stormwolf, and land raider crusader. We both got slay the warlord, I killed 5 of his units and he got 4 over the line. Had our dice been hotter, the game result would have been wildly different. I was making terrible wound rolls but he was making terrible saves, lol.

Played against a Tyranid swarm, seized on him and made short work of it. With command rerolls I don't understand why any non-alpha strike army would deploy with their necks exposed...

2 point for the Imperium due to using "start collecting" models. In the next weeks I should be able to contribute more for compled units too.

Could be a good week to paint stuff...

Yeah, Elites week.  I have two units of wulfen, two units of wulfen bits + primaris bodies to do, and tons of terminators to finish.  This week I'm definitely putting termies in a land raider of stormclaw since deep striking isn't an option, but we get extra points for 2+ armored and 3+ armored elites killing things.  Wulfen won't work.

Played against a buddy of mine just returning to the hobby. He runs astra militarum, and we were both hoping for non-imperium opponents to show up at our local store but I was time constrained so we ended up playing each other. We rolled off and I ended up as attacker. For narrative purposes, we treated it as if his astra militarum had gone renegade. We played 1500 points.

I'm not terrribly knowledgable of astra militarum stuff, but he was running a few units of scions, a few units of veterans with heavy weapons teams sprinkled in, two leman Russ's, (battle cannon variant and plasma cannon variant with Pask), a basilisk, a vindicare, a commissar, and Creed.

I ran Bjorn, 2 grey hunter squads in assault cannon razorbacks, 2 venerable dreads, 5 wolf guard bikers with combi-plas and storm shields, and a stormfang.

I definitely regretted two axe/shield dreads in this scenario. They spent a few turns running to where they needed to be. Stormfang whiffed badly in the second turn and was gunned down.

Overall though, it was an exercise in gunning down guardsmen and trying to get into position to assault his tanks. I ended up losing the stormfang, a ven dread, and a razorback (with plenty of casualties and wounds sprinkled throughout.) At the end he had the basilisk, Pask, and the assasin left. I won pretty handily on kill points as anything that did the killing had a natural 3+ and I got his warlord.

Even in winning handily I evaluated several things I could have done better, not least of which a composition that better matched the scenario and going for more assault shenanigans against his vehicles to prevent shooting.
