Confusion over points

Daft question alert...!

 

'Does not include wargear' means that you only pay for whatever options are listed under the 'wargear options' section of the datasheet; whatever items come as standard is included in the points cost of the unit, correct?

Incorrect. You need to pay for everything the model has. 

 

If the cost of the wargear is nominal or baked into the model cost (e.g. a bolt pistol or frag grenade) then it's points cost will be listed as 0. 

 

As an example, a terminator

 

Model base cost 26

Power Fist 12

Storm Bolter 2

 

Total cost for 1 standard Terminator 40 pts

Wow - stuffs gonna be expensive then!

 

I presume every thing on the datasheet is mandatory though - e.g, you can't buy a Land Raider without twin heavy bolters.

Everything is mandatory.

 

Note that if you swap out the heavy bolters for, say, lascannons - you play the lascannon cost INSTEAD of the heavy bolter cost, not in addition to it.
