Yup. Finally back to playing. And it was a lot of fun!

We started at 750 points just to get to know the rules.

Matched play, No Mercy.

I used 1 NDK with G Psi, and 3 Doomglaives. With an inquisitor as hq tax.

I faced eldar and nids.

Eldar was an uphill battle. Found one glaring weakness with NDK/Dread lists.

I couldn't assault infantry in the upper level of a ruin. Silly rule, and I'll have to bring some infantry now in every list. Just lost end of turn 4.

Nids were close, but doomglaives saw me through.

As expected, the NDK didn't perform as well as the doomglaives. Which were outstanding.

Game flowed smoothly and we're all eager for more!

Great to hear!  I've had three real games myself so far, and have really enjoyed each one.  Haven't lost yet either; a couple Paladin units and an Apothecary or two pull so much weight.  My two NDKs haven't been stars, but they've been worth bringing, and I have the models, so I'll stick with them.  I really, really, dig the simplicity of 8e.

Models need to be 1 inch or closer in order to attack in CC, if there's no place to put the charging model, because the models are on the edge of a top floor, basically they're immune.

Hmm, that IS a bit of a problem.

I can understand the 'no monstrous creatures in ruins' as a necessary abstraction. If you start saying that models don't need to be within 1" to fight, then you open a can of worms that needs to be addressed in minutiae.

There's a great picture in an or thread on this with a single dude standing on the first floor of a ruin, next to an imperial knight.

At waist height to the knight.

Who is unable to punch him...

That's taking the abstraction a little too far in my mind.

I believe in the same example, the guy in the building who could reach out and touch the knight has to descend to the ground floor and charge the Knight's base (if for some reason he wanted to assault the knight). Edited by Holier Than Thou

Or put back in the 'walker' key word for some vehicles.

Which allows them to do that.

But a knight being unable to charge an enemy on the first floor, while a hovering stormraven can.

That's bonkers.

Just how is the raven getting inside? Lol
