Hi,

I am planning to get myself an Airbrush Set within the next few weeks - https://www.airbrush4you.de/a4y-airbrush-set-basis-evolution-silverline-2in1set/airbrush/a-777863/,- so I need proper colours as well.

At the moment I am just planning to base cote my miniatures, so I need colours that look pretty much the same as:

- Army Painter Uniform Grey

- Army Painter Dragon Red

- Games Workshop Abaddon Black

- Games Workshop Leadbelcher

In addition maybe something like Ushabti Bone and Changeling Pink as well (not for base coat, but also bigger areas to paint with).

I have been recomended Valejo colours, and as far as I can see they have bottles of 17ml. Stupid question here:

How much can I paint with these?

Many thanks in advance !

You don't need to replace the paints listed with 'dedicated' air brush paints. You can use those colours you've named (especially the Army Painter ones thanks to the dropper bottles), you'll just need to thin them sufficiently. Most 'dedicated' air brush paints like Vallejo's air range are regular old acrylic paint thinned down some more . Much of their air range has an equivalent in the normal Game colour or Model Colour range.

Similarly, just because something says it's an airbrush paint doesn't mean it's good to go straight from the bottle; finding the right consistency/paint:thinner ratio is something all airbrush painters have to deal with as part of the learning curve.

An Ushabti bone equivalent would be Vallejo Bonewhite.

Army Painter Gun Metal is about the same as Leadbelcher

Sock nailed it on the head. You can thin just about anything to flow through the airbrush, and finding that consistency is key to using an airbrush. You'll know if you've thinned it properly based on how it flows from the airbrush, so it's often a good idea to have a piece of paper nearby. There's a great video right here that demonstrates what to look for re: pressure and flow.

For a Leadbelcher equivalent to put through airbrush, I highly recommend Vallejo's newer Metal Color range. They're in a different dropper bottle to the Vallejo norm (32mL instead of 17mL), but they'll flow through most airbrushes without thinning and coat very smoothly. There are a ton of excellent dark metallics in this range. I haven't tried all of them, but so far Dark Aluminum is the closest I've found to Leadbelcher.
