Meatcaber
Might be a sensible thing to do. I thought Space Marines and Death Guard were the first two... Which Codex was first? Back on topic. What was the general consensus on this guy? Sanctify, for sure. I was going to use him as a shooty dude with a hammer for taking on vehicles and MC's Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/337677-nemesis-dreadknight-grand-master-ndkgm-discussion-area/page/3/#findComment-4891428 Share on other sites
Corvus Fortis
Might be a sensible thing to do. I thought Space Marines and Death Guard were the first two... Which Codex was first? First Space Marines, then Chaos and GK, now DG and AdMech. As for GMNDK loadout Gatling Psilencer+Heavy Psycannon and Greatsword decided to be the best. If you feel unlucky with damage rolls or going to face something with a lot of wounds then try Greathammer. Reclusiarch Darius
For Grandmaster DK, you'll want heavy psycannon+gat psilencer to take advantage of 'Psychic Onslaught' strategem (besides a psilencer Purgator squad he's the best target for it). Weapon wise, I'd always swap out for at least a sword or hammer. Sword is a little less consistent with damage, but it looks cooler and is free (you swap it for a powerfist you have to pay for anyway). Hammer is 5pts more, and you hit on 3's instead of 2's, but its not a big deal. Just go with whichever you reckon is cooler, but make sure you do swap for one of them. Either way, he's a wrecking ball that clears his charge lane quite well (18 shots is a lot). Waking Dreamer
So my meta has a guy that finally finished painting up his Swarmlord for his Tyrannid army, and I know that CC beast is much better in 8th than he was in 7th. Apparently he is crazy fast too now able to move twice per turn (therefore 18" movement), and then still advance/charge! When it comes to heavy hitters I have 2 NDKGMs, Draigo and 4 Paladins so should I be concerned when the Swarmlord eventually charges my line? I'm thinking how well would our NDKGM do taking the Swarmlord in CC? Is it too risky to send in my WarLord NDKGM even though he'll have the +1Dmg to his Greatsword? Or should I have multiple units taking on the Swarmlord in CC? Gentlemanloser
IIRC he has a 4++ in CC. But I've taken him down twice in CC. One with a unit of 10 Paladin (it was a mass melee, them versus swarmy, hive guard, rippers and a mawlock) but i can't remember who the first time. Hammers, counter attack and only in death will see to him handidly. Or just surround him with multiple units and smite him to death. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/337677-nemesis-dreadknight-grand-master-ndkgm-discussion-area/page/3/#findComment-4895567 Share on other sites
Beams
I beat a swarm lord with a squad of Dominions and an eviscerator Cannoness who activated twice. I wouldn't imagine a GMDK would have too much difficulty, especially if you use Sanctuary and the Psybolt ammo.
