Hi!

 

Im gonna play as the ultramarines and ravenguard....this is my take on the ultras!

 

What do you guys think? Im new to battlescribe but i think i did it right!

You're very light on the ground with infantry. Taking objectives across the board will be problematic. Your Redemptor should be staying still so he hits on a 3+.

 

Also, how are you intending to use the army? The Captain and Lieutenant seem a little bit like HQ fillers?

 

Firepower is good though. You'll hurt Marines at range. Hordes might worry you in objectives games such as Maelstrom.

 

Over all a solid list I'd say but the lack of numbers worrys me.

I run a similar core, however, I prefer 2 units of 5 Scouts and 10 Intercessors. The reason is that should Guilliman be out of range, Scions of Guilliman on 10 dudes is more effective than 5. In addition, two units of Scouts can be more flexible at blocking deep strikes and other deployment options of the opponent and infiltrate to more objectives.

 

As Idaho mentioned, the Captain serves little purpose. You have Guilliman, you have two Stratagems that gives you re-rolls as UM. The Lieutenant is alright, since you have more hit re-rolls than wound re-rolls. If you want to those HQs, consider Chronus and a Quad-Las Pred instead of one of the Ven-Dreads.

 

Got to ask yourself though. Do you need that many Command Points? Maybe take just 1 HQ and a Vanguard or Spearhead Detachment + Guilliman and get 7 CP, around 10 effectively with the UM trait.

 

You also lack a bit of anti-elite firepower. You have LCs to kill tanks and Bolters to kill chaff. You do not have many things to kill Terminators, Nobz and so forth.

 

The core idea is good though. I think you have too many vehicles/walkers and not enough boots on the ground.

I don't think there's anything terribly wrong with the list.

 

Small things of note:

- if I include 2 or more dreads, then I have at least one (sometimes 2) Techmarines. They're pretty cheap and can help fill an HQ slot.

 

- Telion is good, but the scouts could use tweaking.... Cloaks help in ruins, but you could use some snipers in there which would be better in a 10 man squad (easier to stay in aura range) and really take out some characters from the opponent.

 

- I love the Stormraven but in this list I probably wouldn't use it. I say this just because if at all possible I think you want to lower your drops and increase your chance of going first (even post FAQ it helps). The Stormraven can be a beast, but if it's empty I feel like you could really use those points elsewhere. Don't forget with the FAQ flyers can't hold anything. So as previously mentioned having some deep strikers would help.

 

- Deep strikers... infiltration... as others mentioned I like to have a minimum of 2 very mobile and/or deep threats. I am loathe to recommend Inceptors because I have such a love/hate relationship with mine, but Termies are still super solid but need a little help usually.

 

Those are just tweaks though. I really don't think there's anything terrible with the list.

Don't waste the points on Predators with Twin lascannons. Too expensive and out classed by Venerables. A Predator Autocannon is much better with lascannon sponsons is a superior choice to Twin Lascannons, though that becomes a personal choice over the Venerables.

 

I agree with dropping the Storm Raven if possible as those points can give you more infantry that you need in my view.

I personally can't comment on the predator loadout or how it compares to a ven Dread. I've used a pred in one game and I honestly prefer Devs.

 

I never looked back. Even missile Devs with the fat baby are really solid and I am not a fan of the vehicle limitations compared to infantry.

 

I really wish Primaris had access to missiles. But anyway the other reason I take heavy shooting infantry is the 12" anti deep strike strategum.

Indeed. Devastator squads will laugh with that Strategum. I can't wait to use it.

 

I agree with the Devastator squad as the prime support unit for firepower. I would (and am) backing them up with a Venerable with twin lascannon and Missile Launcher and Lieutenant as a support structure to my Tactical squads advance. Larger games (2000pts) get 2 Devastator squads.

You said i lack bodies...I agree! With the points that is left,How would you make this a more optimized list?

 

I want to use the dreads! Everything els is up for debate!

The points im going for is 2k...so about 450 to work with..would love some tips...im.stuck...

Are you going Primaris as that influences my advice?

 

Otherwise I'd say a couple Tactical squads in Rhinos could do you well for objectives and putting mobility into the army.

For sheer aura effectiveness: Dev Centurions Las/Grav. Or even more basic, Missile or Las Devastators w/cherub and an Assault Cannon Razorback. Bodies and blockers are good too.... nothing wrong with Tacticals either.
