depthcharge12
The rare same week update: I was hoping to get them based soon. What would you all advise? Stirland mud or battlemire? I think I like the latter better personally. Maybe I should get both? Themistocles13
You can also look into getting the vallejo brand stuff, much more bang for your buck compared to the GW stuff. Silas7
Hey DC why did you pick green for primary color? Will you have any armor to show, I'd like to see how you decide what color to paint them. depthcharge12
Hey DC why did you pick green for primary color? Will you have any armor to show, I'd like to see how you decide what color to paint them. Green is my favorite color of course! :D I really loved painting my SoH and wanted to paint more of a forest green with a ton of extra details. I would’ve liked to do French blue or grey but I think that it can be disingenuous to all the work the sculptor put in. I also wanted to have more of a Verdun/wooded combat scene. Though the DKoK specialize in forest and city removal, there must remain some feudal worlds that would require a forest theme. As for tanks...I’m at a bit of an impasse. I’ll take suggestions as I like both a dunkelgelb and a grey scheme, but they might not match my army. Kontakt
Vallejo's German Panzer Grey is nice if you want something dark. You could always experiment with that green you used for uniforms on a vehicle and see what it looks like. depthcharge12 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/338005-dkok-133rd-regiment/#findComment-4973211 Share on other sites
Silas7
Hey DC what do you think of going with a form of grey with some imperial fists yellow striping for your tanks kinda like the Deathwatch but you switch out black for a grey or dark metallic and the off center red stripe for yellow? http://www.fritzthefox.com/images/camo_gfx/luftwaffe_camo_1_book.jpg Edited January 10, 2018 by Silas7 depthcharge12 and duz_ 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/338005-dkok-133rd-regiment/#findComment-4979711 Share on other sites
depthcharge12
Sorry Silas I just saw your post after I painted >.< I might still go do the striping like the third down Messerschmitt from that image! depthcharge12
So I had a 2000 point slugfest with some blood angels - I credit my win to having two super heavies (I wanted more Krieg but I don’t have more than 1500 points worth, and he asked me to bring a Knight) though we went to the bitter dregs. I wound up tabling him by turn 5, however, had I not rolled to go another game turn, he would have won a major victory by being closest to the relic. So I guess the game could have swung either way. Here’s some pics: He was a very good player whose been at the tournie scene so he was practicing for a local tournament and eventually Adepticon. Blood angels have phenomenal psychic powers and strategems though I think he would’ve done better off with some death Company, here’s his list: DC Captain w/TH/SS/jump pack Primaris Librarian w/relic JP/force sword Sanguinary Guard Ancient JP priest 10 Sang Guard 3 plasma interceptors Librarian Dread Fire Raptor 6x5 Bolter scouts Assault squad with 2 plasma guns and plasma sgt I want to say that’s all he had. I brought: (Battalion plus spearhead and 2 super heavy auxilia) Karis Venner Junior officer w/dagger of Tupac :P TankCommander Russ w/3 HBs/1 Heavy stubber Pony commander Pony command squad 10 engineers 2x10 Guard Squads w/1 plasma gun 10 grenadiers 3 Autocannons 3 lascannons Plasma Russ w/lascannon 2 Heavy Mortars Minotaur Knight Acheron I could go more in depth but this post will go on forever :D MVPs were Minotaur for dropping buttloads of effective heavy fire as well as the heavy mortars. Man those things are underrated. They were barely touched all game and they nuked some sanguinary Guard and inceptors. Would take them again 10/10 Autocannons are hilariously effective against Primaris Marines. Fire Raptors are scary, need a flak tank in my 2000 points as well as more mobile and scoring Infantry. Engineers and ponies did great but the latter wound up not being able to charge the Sang Guard after I decimated them with god level firepower. They were engaged and held up some units most of the game - though I wanted to disengage and charge again but everything in his list has jump packs so they would’ve been stuck with punches anyway. Silas7
Against BA it's probably better to stay in combat if you have to fight in the first place to avoid triggering red thirst. Everything that I've heard about autocannons is that they suffer from the missile launcher syndrome but hey, i'd take autocannons over heavy bolters any day myself. Yeah his list sounds suspiciously small for 2k unless he took way too many toys before boys. Yeah his list sounds suspiciously small for 2k unless he took way too many toys before boys. What’s the missile launcher syndrome? Lol At least the Autocannons have more shots but they do quite well due to the damage alone. I’d love more heavy bolters too - my Bs3 tank commander ones paid for themsleves and more. I think he sunk too many points into the Sang Guard in all honesty. I love that unit but he loaded them up with a bunch of power fists and some plasma pistols as well as a ton of support units. I think 5 of them and a loaded squad of death Company would’ve done better. And boy are you right about red thirst. I used a bunch of chaff to eat most cc attacks and stuck back with my two officers that had power swords. I think I should credit my good rolling, but power swords did wonderful against the marines. I would’ve picked axes but swords just look cooler and are already on the model. Silas7
What i mean is that missile launchers and auto cannons are both generalist weapons or 'jack of all trades'. They pay premium points but are not as good at anti infantry as the heavy bolter or anti tank as the las cannon. depthcharge12 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/338005-dkok-133rd-regiment/#findComment-4981073 Share on other sites
depthcharge12
So here’s my conundrum - I’m painting up my grenadiers and junior officer today and I’m wondering if I should do them in a different scheme to show that they are special snowflakes. I really liked the scheme on my tanks and was thinking of doing a biege/khaki color like them for the uniforms. Otherwise I will paint them the same forest green with black metallic masks. Opinions? What i mean is that missile launchers and auto cannons are both generalist weapons or 'jack of all trades'. They pay premium points but are not as good at anti infantry as the heavy bolter or anti tank as the las cannon. Ah I see and can agree with that. However, they were pretty damn good against the multi wound Primaris and Sang Guard! Heavy bolters were great too but some of their damage got eaten up by all the FNP that the BAs have. Honestly I think that 3 Autocannons is good enough in the list and I would take more heavy bolters after their performance. I can’t stress how much I love multi shot AP-1 weapons this edition. The difference between a 2+ and a 3+ save or a 4+ save is palpable!
