I am looking for alternate titles for my Captains in my DIY Chapter.  I find the Ultramarine titles "Master of..." to be a little unimaginative.

Chapter Name:

   Griffins Tempest

Here is what I have so far with a little commentary....

1st Company   - Regent of the Aviary - want to work on this but if that is the best I can live with it

2nd Company  - Master of the Watch - yeah this one has to change

3rd Company   - Custodian of the Arsenal - this just doesn't flow right

4th Company   - Fleet Master - again not completely happy with this one

5th Company   - Master of the Marches - another one that needs to change

6th Company   - ..... - haven't found a title for this one and can't come up with one

7th Company   - Warden of the Gates - I kinda like this one

8th Company   - Champion of Arms - pulled from the Salamanders Master of Arms

9th Company   - Antiquarian - this one works for me

10th Company - Shadow Stalker -  a deviation from the Codex Astartes intended as a smaller Special Forces Company

Some background information in case it helps:

The 7th Company is the "Home Guard" Company that predominately defends the area around the Chapter Homeworld with another Company that rotates.  The other Companies are sent out to other conflict zones and rotate back to the Chapter Homeworld for rest and repair to full strength.

Each of my Companies Command Structure includes:

1x Captain

2x Commanders (Captains with mundane equipment)

1x Chaplain

1x Librarian

3x Lieutenants

1x Techmarine

1x Company Champion

1x Company Ancient

1x Apothecary

I would suggest thinking of suitably medieval names or Chapter theme appropriate ones, such as Master of the Fleet > Wing of the Griffon (or some such - it's not a great example). However, I would also suggest doing some thematic research, to avoid over-theming the DIY. So instead of using the word 'griffon', there are several similar or related words purely by gleaning the wikipedia page - sometimes they can end up being quite exotic. For example, 'Zizian Master' could be a weird and wonderful alternative.

I think this is perhaps some of the best advice you can get to be honest. Don't go the Space Wolves (wolf guard, wolf claw, etc.) route and push the really obvious Griffon references too much.

I would also consider exploring the Tempest side of your name with storm references for perhaps your Devastator company (and others).

The final thing I would suggest is, as this is a DIY Chapter, perhaps consider your Chapter's backstory and influences. Perhaps a title has been awarded following a past success and has been handed down since?

All of GW's Chapters have some sort of historical, cultural or mythological inspiration - forge world is great for this - so whatever yours is, explore that too rather than just aspects of the name.

If you want to share this information I would be very interested and it would certainly make it a lot easier to suggest some names for you.

Why do you have three sets of officers for your company?

Like why the two commanders and three lieutenants? It seems redundant and inefficient (no offense)

Putting together the army and I found I wanted fire support and close combat elements.  The Commanders allow me to have more auras in multiple locations.  This is somewhat likely to change as I flesh out each Company but gives me a starting point.  For instance I am thinking about making one of my Companies lead by a Dreadnought.
