I was looking at the next set of models from the DI box that I want to assemble and I noticed the captain's armor looks very much like he has a psychic hood. I'm not sure that I'll miss having the Primaris Captain in my list, but the one thing I don't have right now is any type of librarian. I've been playing a little over a year and have yet to participate in the psychic phase.

I'm thinking with a little work I can convert a head to be look more like a librarian. I can add some green stuff robes if needed, cut off the iron halo, and run the bolter on his gauntlet as a bolt-poistol. I'm sure there will be more work done but at a high level that's what I'm thinking right now.

Has anyone done anything like this or have any thoughts on using this model for this conversion?

That's the thing I first noticed about Gravis. I wondered why they all had hoods like a psychic hood.

I think you could do it easy, replace Iron Halo with a book back banner bit from another Librarian or GK Paladin, put wires into his helmet from the hood, and maybe swap the sword for a staff to really drive the Librarian theme home. Librarian ram skull shoulders are also an option. The robe isn't really necessary but does help the image of being a Librarian.

...and maybe swap the sword for a staff to really drive the Librarian theme home.

I like that idea, but his gear lists only a force sword and bolt pistol. I'm very much a WYSIWYG modeler (I have a magnet problem) so I think I'd leave the sword. The book suggestion is really good, I'll have to see about hunting up some bits. I have some Grey Knights a buddy gave me, I might be able to take a bit from them.

I did it to mine. Left of the backpack piece so it seemed more like robes, gave him a stormbolter and BA sword, and tartaros pads. Made him look kinda like a fancy tartaros termy librarian. He'll get painted eventually...

Did you replace the entire arm for the storm bolter? Any pictures you could share? I was thinking of making a small magazine and modeling that onto the storm gauntlet and leaving it as is. It makes sense to me: he has a free hand to wave around spiritedly as he manifests his powers but can still shoot if he needs to.
