Hopper21
As the ensuing arms race continues with my neighbour who has recently brought a hemlock cheese fighter, what are our anti air options? I'm leaning towards the stormhawk intercepter as I like the model. Or taking x2 Hunters. What are peoples thoughts and experiences ? I've never really had to deal with anti air around mine. Frater Cornelius
Outside of a Sicaran Battle Tank there are no dedicated-ish anti-flyer platforms that are worth it, because pretty much all of them are useless against anything else but flyers. Since the malus isn't too great, just fire your regular weapons on him. Make sure you have re-rolls though. Even if you hit on 3s, if you have full re-rolls of 1s and 2s and hit a flyer on 4s (modifiers apply after re-rolls), which is pretty good. Besides, LCs are pretty much the only weapons capable of reaching that thing turn 1. It can deploy pretty far back with its rediculous movement. Brother Captain Sirus
The most versatile anti air unit i have in my army is a venerable dreadnought with twin lascannon and missile launcher, if it remains still it hits on a 3+, it can stay near a captain or spend 1 CP to reroll 1s, it has 48" range on both weapons and they are both high str with good AP. Major bonus, its just as effective against ground units. KhorneHunter57x
I'm leaning towards the stormhawk intercepter as I like the model. That seems to answer the question as far as I'm concerned. Venerable Dreadnoughts with long-range guns, as suggested by Brother Captain Sirus, are another solid bet, and are very useful once the flyers die, too. Plus they can bring a limited re-roll aura with Wisdom of the Ancients. Ishagu
A deredeo is effective and not too expensive. Also, have you looked at Stalkers? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/338252-primaris-anti-air-8th-ed-options/#findComment-4860379 Share on other sites

Ishagu
Hunter is just one shot, not worth it imo. It's the same damage as one Las Cannon. If you really want to dominate the air, two Xiphon Interceptors are fantastic - both as AA and high damage units to deal with the ground. Ishagu
A friend of mine runs a Xiphon and a Raven together, and they do very well. The Xiphon is still effective even when it's taken heavy damage thanks to it's various rules. Death Dealer 101
Have been looking at a one stop model for an all primaris marine army anti-armour and air and I it looks like for the 210 points range a Xiphon seems to fit the bill. 4 lascannons and no penalty for moving and shooting and the ability to cancel out other flyers -1 to hit seems to be about the best one could hope for. Better than the other 2 marine small flyers, more focused and cheaper than the raven and doesn't break the all primaris as much as devastators or land raider as chapter air support seems to fit better imho Hopper21 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/338252-primaris-anti-air-8th-ed-options/#findComment-4863314 Share on other sites
