Guest
Decided to pick up some DG to do since the models look really nice. I attempted to do it in the HH DG colors as I like that theme more than the standard GW does. I wanted to offset the tan and olive drab with bright purple tentacles and yellow blisters. I used Reikland Fleshshade to give it a rusted look and Typhus Corrosion to give it a muddy look on the collar and boots. The gun also has Typhus Corrosion to make it look unmaintained and never cleaned. Not happy about the cloth but... I will think of other idea's. I welcome any suggestions, my next attempt may be the blight launcher and I want to do him up properly. Hopefully Grandfather Nurgle is appeased by this tribute. http://i.imgur.com/Se9EZDn.jpg http://i.imgur.com/zru0fR7.jpg http://i.imgur.com/qeMZJ42.jpg http://i.imgur.com/04qBlJ7.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/338312-my-first-tribute-to-grandfather-nurgle/ Share on other sites
K0rtmer
I'm sure he is. Good painting there. The flash doesn't do your paint job any justice. Does point out through that you should/could work up the fleshy bits (tentacles) a bit more. Even a wash our some minimal highlighting would make much of a difference, I think. The flash was there to help show details, I did one photo with and one without to show both sides. My home in Korea has these built in light diffusers to help make low watt lights seem brighter but for taking pictures of models it sucks. I may have to make a cheap lightbox. The tentacles do have a wash of reikland flesh. I do agree they are a bit plain. Maybe using a highlight of screamer pink on the tips of the tentaclea and more focus on the tentacle blisters as well to give them more definition. So 3 things need to improve on. Tentacles, blisters, and dirty cloth. feuer_faust
I agree about doing some highlighting or spot detailing or something to help the tentacles stand out. I do enjoy the gunk you've got on the collar, gun and boots, makes it look like chunky, flaky metal which adds to the overall grungy feel of the model. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/338312-my-first-tribute-to-grandfather-nurgle/#findComment-4863372 Share on other sites
