Sons and Daughters of the Raven, I think it's time we all had an accounting for the Chapter(s) as I know that I need a boot in the backside in order to get on with my painting.

So, let's have some categories shall we?

To Build: Models that are sat on sprues or in pieces and are nowhere near seeing primer anytime soon.

To Prime:  Built models that, for whatever reason are awaiting a visit from the primer servo-skull.

Primed:   Ready to have some paint put on them.

To finish painting:  Models or units that are "almost" ready, but can be considered tabletop-minimum of 3 colours.

Completed:   Our pride and joy, that we have many pictures of, and have perhaps helped us with either Talon's Reach, HHotE, or any previous painting event/competition.

The aim of this thread is to support each other, even after the finish of HHotE, into getting whatever else we have left painted and ready.

It can also be a place to come when seeking advice on completing our armies with whatever we have left in the "To Build" section.

So, I'll begin with the following:

To Build:

50 Mk III Power Armoured marines including 5 Forge World Plasma Cannons.  Minimum idea here is to expand 2 5-man tactical squads into 10-man squads, and adding a plasma cannon, leaving me with 40 models, and 3 Plasma Cannons.

5 Mk IV Power Armoured marines including 1 Forge World Lascannon, to be the 6th tactical squad at 5-man strength, with Lascannon and Combi-plasma.

1 Lone Mk IV bolter marine to flesh out a tactical squad to 5-men since the Imperial Space marine was moved to Character status.

To Prime:

Relic Contemptor Dreadnought - Changed from Imperial Fists to Raven Guard.

3 Company veterans, but one may need a remodel, as they were built before 8th dropped, and they required a sergeant.

10 Dark Furies/Vanguard Veterans.

Primed:

5 Bikes. 2 Plasma 1 combi-plasma.

Techmarine on bike, with Servo-Harness.

5 Lascannon Devastators sergeant with Combi-Plasma.

4 Tactical Marines (Remember when Imperial marine replaced a bolter guy?)

5 Tartaros Terminators.

Captain in Cataphractii Armour

Chaplain on foot.

Apothecary.

To Finish Painting:

5-man Cataphractii Squad - Just lightning claws on these guys that need to be painted.

5 Sternguard Veterans.  From when I expanded the squad, just some layers on the white, the weapons, and basing needs doing here.

5 Bolter Scouts - mainly skin, weapons, small details.

Shrike - details.

Completed:

Who knows?  Perhaps somebody can provide a graphic for those who manage to complete their pile within a certain time-frame...  What do we say?

I have a much smaller army than most, just starting to hit the 2k mark when you count the Knight ally. They were acquired very quickly, which is the reason most are as unfinished as they are. I had gotten all gung ho about getting them done - got hung up waiting on transfers to get the look of a DIY Chapter just right... And in that waiting period, I became enamored with a Necron project. Now I'm so very torn over what to focus on. A thread like this to help kick my butt one way or the other kinda helps!

To Build:

- Sword and Shield Captain

- Apothecary

- Spare Marines

- IA Post (That counts, right?)

To Prime:

- Centurion Devastator Squad

Primed:

- Relic Bolter Captain

- Librarian

- Sternguard Veteran Squad

- 10 Man Tac Squad

- 2 Dreadnoughts

- Devastator Squad

- 4 Scout Squads

- 2 Stormtalon Gunships

- 3 Land Speeders

To finish painting:

- 10 Man Tac Squad

Completed:

- Imperial Knight

- Drop Pod

- 5 man Tac Squad

Righty.

In an attempt to clear through my Primed section, and add units for HHotE, I am beginning with an Apothecary.

Fingers crossed, this should take no more than 2 days to complete, and giving me enough time to get my Lascannon devastator squad underway and finished before the end of the week.

Still waiting in my Index... which is holding construction up. Everything is cleaned and in piles of suspected build types. Once I confirm how my guys will be built I'll jump in on this.

In the mean time I'm just playing with color schemes on a few old WarZone models I found.

Update time.

I've edited my original post with some Strikethrough to show units that have been finished off from the list of shame, and reinforced my forces.  The Sternguard are 99% done/Table ready now, just a little tidying up on them really.  I'll get to that over the weekend.

So, 3 units moved from their respective categories since the start of this project, however, little-to-no building has been done yet as I would prefer to concentrate on painting for HHotE.

Once HHotE has ended, I might get my build on, and build the units I have to round out squads.

Out of curiosity, would you pair Heavy Bolters or Plasma Cannons with a Meltagun demi-squad?  I know Combat Squadding is an option, at increased deployment drops, curious to hear your thoughts in preparation.

Great idea. Here goes:

To Build:

  • 5-man Vanguard squad with jump packs
  • 10 tactical marines,
  • 3 devastators (2 heavy bolters, 1 missile launcher)
  • bare bones non-primaris lieutenant

To Prime:

  • 6 missile launcher devs
  • one sergeant

Primed:

  • 5 man vanguard squad (also need arms, primed without them for now)
  • 5 assault marines with plasma pistols
  • 1 jump pack captain with Primarch's wrath
  • 1 terminator captain with PF and Stormbolter
  • Landspeeder

To finish painting:

  • 1 chainsword/boltgun captain for min HQ choice, mostly painted and looking very good if I may say so myself
  • 5 man van squad with dual wielding plasma pistols (painted from before but underwent recent weapons change)
  • 5 man van squad with LCs

Completed: Off the top of my head;

Flying stuff:

HQ

  • Captain w/Jump pack and Thunder Hammer
  • A Counts-as-Shrike
  • A Chaplain with Jump pack and power fist (and beaky skull head!)
  • Lieutenant with Jump pack and huge double sided chainsword
  • Librarian with Force stave and Jump pack

  • 1 Stormraven
  • 2 Stormtalons (1 las, 1 typhoon missile launcher, both twin AC)
  • 1 Stormhawk

  • 25 vanguards w/ plasma pistols
  • 20 assault marines w/ 4 flamers and 1 eviscerator
  • 1 Landspeeder with HB

Non-flying

  • 20 devastators including 6 lascannons/2 missile launchers
  • 15 scouts, 1 heavy bolter
Edited by Gulltramarine

To Build: Centurion unit.  Rhino/Razorback.  Vindicator.  Sternguard.  Vanguard.  Various HQ models.  Left-over Bikes.  Scout Bike Squad.  Grey Knight Terminator Squad.  Three Squads of Mk IV.  Two Tactical Squads.  Devastator Squad.  Contemptor Dreadnought.  Drop Pod.  Deathstorm Drop Pod.

To Prime:  Nothing.

Primed:  Ironclad Dreadnought.

To finish painting:  Land Raider Terminus Umbra

Completed:  A lot for me  ^_^

Update.. .

From primed to finished, 1 5-man Tartaros Terminator Squad.

Once my bikes are done, I'll have completed another HHotE vow, and leave me with another decision on what to do next.

With the Tartaros, I decided they were the veterans on the 3rd company, while my Sternguard and Vanguard are from the first company. Hence the red spots on the shoulder, and the fact they don't have the full white arms.

Love you use a Kanban! :D

I have an app on my phone... I need to get better about using it, but I usually get distracted by what I want to paint vs need.

I use it more when I'm prepping for a tournament and need to get particular things done by a certain date.

I heard about it on a podcast a long time ago and loved the idea. I use it more for general organization/inventory. I haven't checked it in a couple weeks. Usually I'll look at my stuff physically too see what I want to do next and then I'll update my board.

I could use this a lot more than I do and probably will start to. I'd love to know how much time I've spent on my 5 man catraphactii unit but at this point I can only guess and my guess scares me because I'm probably shorting myself. Between casting custom shoulder pads, magnetizing ALL. OF. THE. ARMS., painting, doing the bases, etc, I'm probably easily over 40 hours into just this one unit.

Hello fellow Rooks, Ravens, Magpies and Shrikes! Thought this would be a good place for my first post (been reading the threads for a few months now, finally got around to jumping in myself :happy.: )

Here's my current army build status:

To Build

5x Combat Scout Squad.

10x Marines of undetermined designation.

Primed

5x Assault Squad.

10x Tactical Squad.

To finish

Librarian, Chaplain, Apothecary and 5x Vanguard Veterans to base.

Completed

10x Tactical Squad

5x Sniper Scouts

5x Combat Scouts

5x Devastator Squad

1x Imperial Space Marine

3x Reivers Squad

1xRazorback W/Assault Cannon (or a Rhino)

Hopefully i'll get my characters and VVs based this weekend.

Assembly list for the Void Gryphons:

To build: Land speeder, imperial half of dark imperium, buid and convert imperial half of dark vengeance, 2 razorbacks, 25 bolter/special weapon marines, 25 special weapon marines. (kitbashed from sterguard, devestator, deathwatch and anvil bits) 3 dreadnoughts

To Finish building; 3 stormravens, 10 reavers, 20 assault marines/VVs, 15 biker to scout biker converions

To oh god please stop making more of these:  Captain models.   Every time i get a neat idea.  Im up to like 4 chapters worth of captains

To Paint:  200+ infantry and officers, 7 razor/rhinos, 1 thunderfire cannon,

To rip apart and reassemble as a legal model (razzumfrazzum)  18 captains, chaplians and librarians, and 38 inquisitors/henchmen

To finish painting; 40 VV, 20 ASM, 20 tacticals, 20 scouts, 40 deatchwatch kill team guys permanently assigned to chapter,

To paint the faces on : 1 full platoon of stormtrooper auxillaries (50 guys)

Completely done:  Ummm.   Look!    over there!   A distraction!   *drops smokebomb, hides*

@Racebannon: Cheers! I may start a WIP with photos, plus I need some advice on what loadouts to setup my to-be-built scouts and Marines.

@Kenderleech: *coughs from smoke* Are you building a whole company!? I know what you mean with captains, i'm tempted to build a squads worth of them with as many different loadouts as possible... A captain for every occasion!

I edited my original post to reflect changes. Picked up a Dreadnaught set and the 2nd commander set arrived yesterday, which will be made into a Lt. Still waiting on my Codex... pretty sure it got lost in the mail. The Chaplin took longer than expected to build (I'm not a fan of this finecast stuff) but I think it turned out ok, I also cut off the bolt pistol and replaced it with a plasma pistol. Slow progress is still progress.
