The deployment slightly into Turn 1 - note I forgot to set up my Spawn

Tau Turn 1
: I fail to seize, his first card is a Secure Objective (battlefield center). His Devilfish moves to claim it. Piranhas advance up the right flank. Commander initiates Kau'yon (Within 6" can re-roll shooting hits if didn't move). The Tau battle line erupts with a deadly hurricane of firepower. The Cultists and Militia on the right flank are utterly annihilated. The far left flank fares little better, with half a Militia squad and half a Mutant squad gunned down by Burst Tide and a Broadside. The Enforcers execute a few.   (First Blood, 1 Tactical point)

Renegades Turn 1: I draw Secure Objective 4 - deep in the Tau left zone with the Burst Tide standing on it!)

Banewolf and surviving Mutants advance up the left flank. In the center, not yet touched by the fire storm Mutants and Militia advance toward the central facility. The Hellhound and remaining Militia on the right move in on the Ion Tide in the vanguard. Psychic phase sees some Warp Flux wounds on the Ion Tide.

The Basilisks fire on a Broadside and the Burst Tide, scoring some wounds. The Wyvern battery shells the Marker Drones in cover but fail to kill any.

On the extreme right the Ogryn and Malefic Lord exit from their Chimera and assault the Piranhas which strayed too close (After Smiting and the Chimera supporting fire). One of their number is reduced to smoking gore from a fusion overwatch however the stimulant raged brutes barrel in, the Boss Brute power drills through two causing two explosions!

The Hellhound and Militia assault the Ion Tide. The tank is damaged by a fusion overwatch but barrels ahead, the Militia and Maul Enforcer in its wake doing a couple wounds. The massive battlesuit crushes a couple Militia underfoot, the Enforcer executes more Militia (3) to stop a route.

(Unable to reach my objective I score nothing)

Mutants and Militia advance, the Ogryn Beast Handlers dogs nipping at their heels.

Tau Turn 2:  The Tau draw another Secure Objective (Center battlefield) and Witch Hunter (kill a psyker). The last Piranha and Devilfish fly from melee further towards my lines. In the center, the Breachers disembark from the Devilfish and take positions in the central facility. The relentless firepower continues; on the left the Banewolf is riddled by Broadside missiles and Burst Tide shells. The Breacher Team plunges fire into the Mutants, cutting down several. On the right the Hellhound is damaged further by the Commander and Broadside. The wounded Ogryn are put down by the Kroot and Piranha Drones. Their Chimera badly damaged by the last Piranhas fusion blast.  (1 Point for Secure Objective center)

Renegades Turn 2:  I hold 4 objective markers, dearly paid for in blood, getting 4 cards; Behind Enemy Lines (Get a unit in the enemy zone), Psychological Warfare (Score if enemy fails morale), Big Game Hunter (Kill 10W unit), Mission Critical Objective (Secure Objective marker # = turn number).

On the far left the damaged Banewolf grinds toward its prey, spraying chemical flame onto the Broadside, killing its Drones. The Basilisks pound a couple shells into the Burst Tide, staggering but failing to topple the beast. The Eradicator hammers a shell into the Devilfish, causing hull damage, plasma cannons do more damage to the Burst Tide.

In the central facility, the Mutants and Militia storm the ramparts with a hail of shotgun, autogun and flamer fire, the Breachers and Devilfish Drones are overrun by the tide of Renegades. The second Ogryn Squad disembarks and assaults the Ion Tide supported by the Renegade Commander and Malefic Lord smiting it. The Ogryn Beast Handler also rushes in. The wounded Battlesuit falls with the Ogryn Boss inflicting critical injuries.

The Hellhound turns its Inferno cannon upon the Kroot, ruthlessly immolating several in a gout of fire.

On the right the surviving Malefic Lord senses his danger and retreats back to his Chimera (hoping to deny Witch Hunter), the transports heavy flamer and multi-laser down the last Piranha.

(Score 3 Points - Psych Warfare (Breachers), Big Game (Ion Tide), Mission Critical (Militia on Objective 2 on the left).

Ogryn counter attack the piranhas

Tau Turn 3:  The Renegades rapid advance has heavily stifled the Tau ability to generate objectives, drawing another Secure Objective this time in my right zone. Casualties are beginning to tell and the shooting phase is less punishing. The Mutants swarming the central facility hoping to loot the Breachers corpses are blasted by the Riptides burst cannon.

The Commander and his Broadside bodyguard hammer missiles and fusion into the Hellhound, the flame tank is rocked but continues to grind away, seemingly held together by some malevolent power.

Similarly on the left flank the second Broadside fires all missile banks into the Banewolf, the tank is shaken but still in action (3W left).

(No scoring)

Renegade Turn 3: The technologically superior xenos guns have heavily depleted my infantry at this point but I still hold many objective markers. I draw - Another Secure Objective 4 (sitting at the feet of the Burst Tide), Advance (have no units in my deployment - nope), Secure Objective 2 (still held by a few Militia on the left), Supremacy (D3 points for holding 3 markers - doable!)

The listing Banewolf grinds into the comm station and finally eliminates the Broadside with a triumphant blast of chemical fire (Score Behind Enemy Lines). The Spawn which had been stalking their way across the killing fields finally seize their chance and assault the Burst Tide after another Earthshaker shell hammers home. The vile creatures swarm the battesuit and bring it down, they now hold the cargo pile (and 2 points for finally taking Objective 4!).

The Banewolf attacks the Broadside

The Ogryn launch an assault on the Tau Commander, one of their number slain by a fusion shot through the head, the Commander is in turn badly wounded.

(Score 5 points - the above mentioned plus Supremacy)

Holding a distinct advantage at this point we call the game - Victory to the Renegades (8-3 I believe).

Aftermath:  Predictably the Tau shooting phase was deadly to the max. I think I lost approx 45 infantry in the opening salvo (ouch!) The stars had to be the Chimeras and Hellhound/Banewolf, particularly the latter. The great part is they can lead the assault for your infantry units which would otherwise get diced in overwatch. The mechanized Ogryn get it done again, loving those Brutes. I definitely missed the Disciples lascannons from my previous battle as the Basilisks struggled to do major damage. The Wyverns are similar to Quad Launchers (having reroll wounds but S4 vs S5 Quads), but lack of AP means they will struggle against armored infantry or units in cover.

Overall I was happy with the list though.

Great writeup again! Glad to hear that after all the decimated units you pulled off a stunning tactical victory. Where are those modular necromunda-like buildings from?

I had a game this weekend with mixed chaos forces, that I will try to post up. Ill have to write it up first, and ask my opponent for his photos of the game... I only took deployment and victory photos...

Thanks! The structures are built from the IMEX Hexagon kit. They can be tricky to obtain if outside the US as a company called Pegasus Hobbies markets them from a Russian producer called Technolog. Sometimes independent retailers will have them. Very nice kits though, can build lots of custom stuff from them.
