dtse
hey guys, for those interested, Here's a brief report from CCBB last weekend. For full report, please see the YouTube channel, I will be posting up a 3part video report. This is big event, with singles and doubles of 40k (amongst other games). I played both, but played genestealers in doubles so won't bore you with that! Singles I was bringing the list that people might have seen on the list forums that i have been tuning for many months: Azrael celestine lieutenant culexus commissar astropath shroud 2 dev squads, 2 lascannons each, cherubs 5 twin assault cannon razorbacks 2 las predators 3x20 conscripts Typical Dark Angels parking lot list, lots of firepower, low mobility, rerolls/4+ invuln/-1 to hit bubble. 6 round tournament, 54 players. The missions were a combination of eternal war and maelstrom, with slay/linebreaker/first blood. I was not expecting to do super well, firstly because there are a lot of amazing players! Secondly, my army struggles with maelstrom sometimes, depending on the cards drawn. Also, I have recently become tired of playing this list, whle its very strong, its a bit boring now, and opponents definitely find it a grind to play against, and while i'm competitive, I do think fun is the priority. So this was the last time for this list for a while! Since i kind of help run the event, in the end I ended up letting one of our patreons have my spot in the tournament and I was the ringer. Not really a ringer list, but whatever. First round - Ynnari TIm's Ynnari list was roughly: Yncarne yvraine 4-5 harlequin squads 5 starweavers I think? (-1 to hit 4+ invuln skimmers) beastmaster 3 units of razorwings Can't remember the missions per se, sorry. But most of my games the objective was to go for tabling and get as many maelstrom as possible in first 3 turns, then break out of the castle and get onto end-game objectives. Good game. He moved up as expected. I killed all the razorwings in first turn and 2 of his transports. He hit me 2nd turn and took him a few turns to break through conscript line. in the end was just yncarne left and beastmaster in the back. Culexus got me backfield and linebreaker. Win for me. Harlequins just can't break the line fast enough and are very easy to kill with so much firepower. TIP of the day.....kill the yncarne first! Second Round - Dark Angels In an interesting twist, I ended up playing Jay, who WAS the ringer, but I let him play, and he ends up playing me, the new ringer haha. Anyway, he brought this: Sammy 3 typhoon/HB speeders (1unit) 2 nephilim jetfights 2 MM attack bikes (1 unit) belial deathwing apothecary 3 units of deathwing terminators (2 cyclones, rest fists and a chainfist each, storm bolters) We were playing on a weird board with little LOS blocking terrain, but what was ther was super tall. He actually chewed my conscripts up really fast, with all the hurricane bolters and frag missiles and deep striking storm bolters. This was the mission where 1 objhective is worth 4 points at end (and the one i had all game was only worth 1). My culexus failed a charge against a single terminator holding it for him and then died to one of the jetfights that was down to 1 wound. Both fights flew off the table by TUrn 5. Then i blocked my own line of sight in the last turn so I couldnt even shoot that terminator (bonehead move!). So i lost by that one objective. In an epic heretical showdown, sammy charged into azrael on turn 4, the company master trying to dethrone the chapter master! He wounded 4 times, but azrael bossed 4x4+ invulns! He then smacked sammy down doing 10 wounds including 2 mortals....know your place son! Belial failed a charge #terminatorspeed Was super fun close game lost by 2 point differential Third ROund - Demons Played my friend Nick third round, who was actually just back in Ottawa from military training for this tournament, he brought his old 7th edition demons list with some changes (obviously screamerstar is not a thing anymore!). UNfortunately, that kind of demon list just aint competitive anymore, but had a fun game anyway with beers and banter. He brought (roughly): Belakor D-thirster demon prince herald of nurgle bunch of khorne dogs 6-7 screamers nurglings some nurgle drones couple of exalted flamers and one in the chariot some plaguebearers As predicted, he could do nothing else but rush me with everything, and really, 5+ invuln won't save you from 60 assault cannon shots. Lascannons took out D-thirster turn 1. Conscripts tied up drones and dogs and nurglings forever, and celestine just flew around killing objective holders. So I finished Day 1 with 40 points (it was differential scores, not win-loss). Round 4 I did not play as someone dropped out, so I wasn't needed. Round 5 next day I did not play either, but then that person came back Round 6. I ended up getting arranged to play a game with the guy that missed the last 2 rounds (he had car troubles) so he was out of the running and we agreed to just play a friendly game and film a batrep for the channel! I had a couple of hours before Round 6, we both agreed we didn't want to play Dark Angels (so I went home and grabbed my new genestealers list - WIP). I'll include this here out of interest even though its not dark angels He brought roughly: Ghazghull weird boy some meganobz in a battlewagon 4 units of 30 boyz 8 spear thrower artillery things and grots to man them 2 burna bombers I brought 85 genestealers and some lascannon teams and harker and conscripts. Anyway, was a blood game with thousands of dice thrown, we ended up just mathhammering the big combats and I got tabled turn 5. Was super fun though. If people are interested, Jason (one of the Canada ETC players) scored 97/100 battle points at this event (placed 3rd i think overall in battle score) with the following list (which he also played at ETC) azrael celestine culexus ratlings x2 6 assbacks 6 dev squads each 2 lascannons and cherubs shroud there we go! CCBB 2017 done. my new dark angels list is probably this: azrael shroud (or maybe a 6th assback...havent decided yet if shroud is worthwhile with a threat of 4 dominion scouting immolaters) 5 assbacks celestine seraphim with fusion pistols 4 dominion squads with 4 melta guns each 4 immolaters Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/338500-tournament-report-capital-city-bloodbath-2017/ Share on other sites
Helycon
Seemsike the list isn't going to have a lot of DA left! Anyhow, cool recaps. Wondering about the hurricane bolters you mentioned: was he running Dark Talons in stead of Nephilims? Helycon
Ah, fair enough! Still, you seem to be dropping more DA in favour of other allied forces. It's mostly going to be Imperium really. dtse
Yea. I'm just tired of playing that list. Been hardcore playing it and various versions of it since 8th came out. Time for a change or at least a large variation. There's so much goodness to try in imperial soup that might soon be not good due to codexes trying to make people play pure so might as well enjoy it while it lasts Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/338500-tournament-report-capital-city-bloodbath-2017/#findComment-4865443 Share on other sites
