So I've been toying around with the new Primaris stuff and I'm pretty excited by it all, I've added a fair selection to my Dark Angels already but I fancied a new challenge and army, also I want to use the shiny new codex.

So as a hobby challenge,I want to attempt Imperial Fists as yellow is always a colour I've avoided (especialy en masse) as I find it difficult, also the chapter is codex adherent, meaning I have the joy of proper markings etc. (I had considered UM due to this)

I also love the lore/chapter/tactics and I want to create a small (1500-2000 max) Imperial Fists force.

However here is the stickler, I want to run Primaris only, but with the layouts of the new companies which I'm still a bit baffled by, I'm debating how I could pull this off? I'd rather not do a successor as I really want to do this for the challenge. However lore/codex wise is it impossible or does anyone have any ideas on how I could pull this off?

Thanks for any advice!

I do not think its impossible at all.  The Imperial Fists won many honors in the Indomitus Crusade, and much praise from Guilliman himself.  Given the hard fighting nature of the Fists, and their willingness to fight on in impossible odds; I would wager they were reinforced multiple times with Primaris Marines from their initial intake of Primaris and follow up replacements from Guilliman's own Unnumbered Sons.  After 100 or so years of constantly Crusading in this nature I would wager that the Fists have more Primaris Marines then not, and would not bat an eye at all at an Imperial Fists Company entirely consisting of Primaris Marines.

Here is Boldthreat's hypothetical Imperial Fists 5th Company, who post Indomitus Crusade has been made entirely from Primaris Marines, either from Cawls first reinforcements to brand new Astartes recruited and implanted by the Fists themselves:

1 Primaris Captain

2 Primaris Lt's.

1 Primaris Apothecary

1 Primaris Ancient

1 Primaris Chaplain - Attached from the Reclusiam

1 Primaris Librarian - Attached from the Librarium

12 - Battle Line Squads (Intercessors)

4 - Close Support Squads (2 Riever Squads and 2 Inceptor Squads)

4 - Heavy Support Squads (2 Hellblaster Squads and 2 Aggressor Squads)

2 - Redemptor Dreadnoughts

Repulsor's from the Chapter Armory

I believe Dark Imperium is clear, the vast majority of the Chapters accepted Guilliman's Primaris Marines.  They didn't just accept the marines though.  They accepted and adhered to the geneseed and training/implantation processes to make them as well.  Regular Astartes are a dying breed fluff wise.  As they die and are inevitably replaced... they will be replaced with Primaris marines.  Fluff wise (not talking game or model wise) Primaris marines are replacing regular Astartes.  Why would you make inferior marines now that you have the ability to make better marines?  You would not.  I believe most chapters at this time in the setting are only producing Primaris at this point.

This is all my opinion though.  But I think you are good to go on what you want to do.
