GreenMoss
I'm trying to convert my own twin autocannon arm for a dreadnought (to be paired with a twin lascannon) and I wanted to achieve a "lighter", more agile look for it like it could also swing and target laterally (without moving the whole torso that is). Hence using a dread CC weapon arm for it. This is what I have so far and I'm not too happy with it. I think adding some sort of ammo drum below would help but I'm not sure what to use. Also is it way too long or do you think it will be believable once painted? Any other advice or comments welcome. NovemberIX
If I may make a few suggestions. If you have the bits for a seismic hammer I'd use that instead of a standard dread CCW. Shortening the barrels by half (so that they more match the lascannon length) would help the aesthetic. One thing to consider is how FW do their heresy dread arms, the barrels are fitted horizontally with banana clips for ammo feed (https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-GB/Contemptor-Pattern-Autocannon), it'll may help with some of the overall bulk and shape. Tyberos the Red Wake
Shorten the barrels. You don't need full-length barrels because a) the weapon system already has an extension via the swivel arm, and b) it's a "lighter" and "agile" variant, so shorter barrel makes sense there and even gives off this visual cue (look at military rifles and their carbine versions). Adding the AC ammo drums to the side of the fist will also help. Lastly, try to find some AC tips instead of melta. It's not a bad concept, you just need to get the visual cues right, and the correct weapon tip and ammo drums will really make it scream AC, while shorter barrels will make it look better.
