So I, coming back to Warhammer after a few years, see the Dark imperium set in my local shop. I was their to stock up on material to work on my marines again and the new Primaris ones caught my eye. I bought it and really liked it so I thought I'd do a little army of them up first to get back into it. Well looking at some of the bits that we're seemingly missing I discovered apparently the models are different then the kit ones so now I'm worried. My basic consern is the Dark Imperium ones are noticeably of lesser quality then the kit figures. I have no desire to put these together if they're obviously gonna be different the the 'usual' ones. I guess I'm also a bit miffed that this is a thing. That last 2 combo boxes I had had the same sprue in that as the kits so I didn't even think that was a possibility. Oh well, for the people that's worked on these, what's the news, do they still look as sharp ?

They really do look just as nice, they simply don't have the options that the multi-kits do. Take the character models (Captain, Librarian, Apothecary, Chaplain) for example, they are all single pose models, and they look quite sharp.

Your concerns over quality are not necessary, once complete and painted, you won't be able to tell the difference once placed in squads.

Generally speaking, they look as good as the usual multi-part kits (haven't seen any of the primaris ones yet). I did have some weird mold lines and muddied parts on some of the Dark Imperium marines though. For example some of the trims on the shoulder pads were not as sharp as I would have thought, but I was able to cut them into shape.

Actually, compared to previous lines, the DI stuff is very well-molded.  There are a couple places where obvious mold lines or sprue marks need cleaning, but many of them are in inconspicuous areas.  The hardest part of cleanup for me, was actually finding some of the mold lines!

No, these are quality models, even the ones from the boxed set.  Certainly when compared to the stuff that came with previous editions.
