soots
hey guys So i have a battle against a marine player in a couple weeks. I know for a fact he is going to bring guilliman out. The last time we fought I threw a bike captain at him (thunderhammer, storm shield) hoping by any chance he would take him down...well guilliman took 3 wounds and that was it. For the rest of the game I ignored him. From what I remember he brought 2-3 5 man tactical squads with assaultback transports and a dakka raven. The list I have been using is Battalion hq draigo grand master dread knight: sword, heavy psilencer, teleporter Troops 5 strikes 5 strikes 5 strikes fast 8 interceptors: all with falcions, stormbolters flyer stormraven: multimelta, assault cannon, hurricane bolters vanguard Hq grand master dread knight: sword, heavy psilencer, teleporter elites apothocary 3 paladins, stormbolters 3 paladins stormbolters total 1996, 7 CP Does anyone have any insights on how to play against him or ways to limit what he brings to a marine list? jeffersonian000
It's best to just ignore him and his area of effect as long as possible, while killing everything else. Use LoS blocking terrain, drain his army, make him sad he ended to game as the only model left standing (with full wounds!). soots
bit hard to ignore a guy who has a broken 6-12" aura the player tends to bubble wrap him with all his tanks, making it a pain to deal with Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/338943-roberto-guilliman/#findComment-4875394 Share on other sites
swordofmandulis
I would say if you can get Draigo and a NDKGM with a greathammer and nemesis lord for the +1 damage you will stand a good chance of killing him, Draigo has as good a chance as anyone of surviving combat with him, use heed the prognosticars for the 2++, go first with the dreadknight, of course manufacturing that situation will be nigh impossible. Gentlemanloser
Bobby G (or as he's now know to my group Bobby Gesus due to his self rez) is a beast. I had him foot slog behind 2 doomglaives. He caused havok and took an immense amount of punishment. Plus i had CP coming out my ears. His reroll for CP is nuts! Corvus Fortis
From my experience his 3++ inuvln just easts all close combat attacks. My GMNDK failed to hurt him with 5 hammer attacks at all. 5 attacks just not enough to force enough saves. Unless opponent was careless enough to leave him open for smites and stormraven fire, it is almost impossible to hurt him out of close combat. You have to destory screening units first. The only way I see here is charge him with any units you can and hope he fail his invuln. The good thing is he has only 8 wounds, so if he fails a couple of saves from hammers, he is dead (at least for the first time). Some mortal wounds from smites and Vortex will help too, but it is unlikely he can be killed with pure MW. You need him to be closest for 3-4 units for at least 2 turns and not to fail a single cast. So yes, luck, luck and pure luck. He is killable but all depends on good positioning and failed invulns (and failed revive attemp, probably rerollable for CP). Other than luck, allied SM nullzone libby is always your best friend when you face high invuln units. Still needs to be in 6 inches from RG and luck for throwing 8. In small games, like for 1000 pts, when Guilly is almost half of the army, just killing everything but him could be preferable.
