Godeskian
My first Dreadknight was named after Arthurian mythos. I named it the Siege Perilous (named for the empty seat at the round table, reserved for the knight who would find the holy grail) because I thought it was a great name for a Dreadknight. I painted the name on the rim of the Base. How ever, I know own and am in the process of building and painting two additional GMNDK's, and I've been struggling for names. Sadly I've used my best names for my imperial Knights (the Balance of Judgement, Winds of Winter, Righteous Indignation and Forward Unto Dawn). I actually commissioned plaques for them given their Base sizes Any suggestions would be appreciated, but hopefully those names give you an idea of the kind of vaguely poetic, but hopefully somewhat badass names I like. Plasmablasts
For more Arthuriana, how about "The Dolorous Blade"? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/338945-help-me-name-my-two-new-gmndks/#findComment-4874680 Share on other sites
Godeskian
For more Arthuriana, how about "The Dolorous Blade"? I'm not strictly speaking married to Arthurian mythology, and I'd like to name my three Dreadknights and two dreadnoughts after obscure mythological references. And The Dolourous Blade is epic as names go. I will gladly name one of them that, thank you Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/338945-help-me-name-my-two-new-gmndks/#findComment-4874720 Share on other sites

Gentlemanloser
For a biblical one (might not be obscure enough! ) there's the "Spear of Destiny" / "Lance of Longinus" (Lancea is latin for lance as well). More obscure. The Irish God Lugh had a sword called "The Answerer" (Fragarach) If you don't mind Norse mythology there's the sword "Stream of Anguish". (Angurvadal) "Ascalon" was St. George's spear he used to slay the dragon. Godeskian
It's worth noting they don't have to be based on weapons, the Siege Perilous is named after a chair at the end of the day, but I do thank everyone for their suggestions. I shall have to give the third name a bit of thought Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/338945-help-me-name-my-two-new-gmndks/#findComment-4876100 Share on other sites

Here's a thought - How about "Sinister" and "Dexter"? ;) This is a jab at the cartoon Dexter's Laboratory. The protagonist is called Dexter (surprise) and his Nemesis (no pun intended), is called Mandark. Gentlemanloser
Sinister and Dexter, apart from being a story in 2000AD is Latin for Left and Right. That's why us lefties are thought of as a bit, wrong. We're 'sinister'. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/338945-help-me-name-my-two-new-gmndks/#findComment-4876205 Share on other sites
