Gentlemanloser
A topic for a new gem in the 8th edition version of the Grey Knights. The humble Apothecary. Except now, they're not just a gene-seed slave, but a powerful unit in CC in thier own right. The Apothecary has a lot going for him. First, he's a character. Which allows him to hide and make use of GK relics and stratagems. He has the best WS (2+) in the game. He also is slightly more point efficient for 5W than an equivalent amount of Paladin. At 90 points he's one of the cheapest (useable!) Units we have that fill a FoC slot. With a Hammer he's cheaper than a Strike squad and more durable. In Narrative and Open play, he's our cheapest option to spam Purge Soul. Or Smite in Matched play. He has Teleport Strike. 4 Hammer attacks at 2+. Nuff said. He also heals d3 lost wounds a turn. And can use that on himself. While he can bring dead units back to life, i'd avoid that, and prefer him smiting and smashing without chance of 'stunning' himself for the rest of the turn. And the downside? He doesn't have a Stormbolter. But he does still have Frag and Krak (and Psyk Out) grenades. And with his focus on Melee he should be close enough to throw them. Basically, our Apothecaries are :cussing awesome! /salute Helycon 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/338955-apothecaries-melee-powerhouses/ Share on other sites
Helycon
I agree with everything you said, except for the fact the hammer hits on 3+, due to the -1 ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/338955-apothecaries-melee-powerhouses/#findComment-4874755 Share on other sites
Muaddib
Apo with hammer hit on 3's only. But I totally agree with you about that guy. The cheapest way to fill a elite slot. He wrecks things. I tried him today for the first time, with the relic hammer. He did really nice, killing a necron elite character (forgot his name) twice his price (with the strat. only in death though). Gentlemanloser
Yeah I wasn't mentioning the hammers -1, just his native ws2+. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/338955-apothecaries-melee-powerhouses/#findComment-4874782 Share on other sites
