Can't see why he would possibly side with the Emperor. Deliberately engineered to die after he outlived his usefulness!? I figure he's pretty bitter.

I actually don't see him as pro-Traitor exactly.... more anti-Emperor. Not even anti-Imperium.

I see him as essentially a Blackshield - he's out for himself but he'll take any chance he can to mess with the Emperor's plans.

I've been thinking about this...

Where do you think his story arc leads?

He finds a way to fix himself and Ghota and presumably other Thunder Warriors...but Thunder Warriors do not exist in 40K, or maybe they do?

Any theories?

He would be the one who will unite Terran forces and populance outside the Imperial palace to fight against the Emperor's Children forces

He was essentially a gang-lord in the novel so anyone coming in on his "turf" will hopefully get a bloody good kicking

I could presume it would be the EC and their terror campaign on Terra. Some warband will attack Taranis holdout and from that point on Ark will fight them and will 'help' loyalists.

Would be good to see a few more Thunder Warriors sequences in the next books.

I think we would be back to him then Siege will start in earnest

Arik was implied to not blame the Emperor. He may have understood and after with the reasoning behind the Emperor's in regard to the treatment of Thunder Warriors, only that he didn't want to die.

Maybe. It has been a long time since I read the book.

I'd be a bit disappointed if he is a "Loyalist". He has more reason to be bitter and turn traitor than Horus does.

The other consideration, I guess, is who's going to accept his help. Traitors would be a strong yes. Dorn? Maybe not.

I really hope we get some more of his story arc.... it's very promising no matter which way it goes.

I believe he would be pro Imperium but just not with the Emperor due to them being discarded.

But then he may know of the dangers of the Warp and be against the traitors too. Especially when Warp twisted individuals start popping up.

Or we won't see anything of him at all in the siege books because BL may not have even thought about it.

on the contrary corswain - in the novel he states that he doesn't really harbour ill will against the big E for designing him that way.

Whilst he may of been discarded and ultimately betrayed by the Emperor, he is very much a fan of humanity and fought with the E for the ideals shared. So i cant see him liking the idea of daemonic porn stars roaming around his city stealing souls left right and centre

"I've already been replaced by Astartes, I'm not being replaced again by corrupt Astartes!"

*angrily waves fists at sky*

Quote from Arik during the Siege of Terra

:biggrin.: Bring me my hammer - it's time to show why we were called 'The Thunder Warriors' (or whose the daddy here )

Lol, okay. Must be completely misremembering him. Or it was just another example of me subconciously twisting things to suit my own head-canon.

Soooo..... Crime Lord turned reluctant hero of the population? I can get behind that.

Everyone can - hero nobody asked for saved us all ;)

secret founder of one of those "primarchless" chapters.

Being good old 'thunder warrior' - doubt it. All the glands he compiled was mainly to keep him alive- cause he is definitely long past his 'term of use' ;)

I think the idea of shady Thunder Warrior chapters in 40K is actually really cool.

They never show their faces to other Astartes as it would be obvious that they're in fact not Astartes.

Interesting - so beloved by Inquisition 'Minotaurs' chapter could shed some light on that

Nice idea

yeah, i think the idea is that on the surface they would operate like a average astartes chapter but underneath it all, their physiology is thunder warrior. they have a dummy reserve tank of astartes genetic material to submit to terra and are deathly afraid of being found out.

or something like that

The High Lords would have to take special measures to keep the Thunder Warriors in check...they're like late GC World Eaters (or possibly even more psychotic)

Perhaps Arik's efforts at the end of Outcast Dead manages to partially stabilise the TW mentally and physically
