A brother needs us. #Brandswolves

Dantay, I think doing some PAWG would be cool, because people can go to town one their contribution. Or some GHs would be cool, we could add to the army that the Facebook group has going.

I agree, PAWG are good because you can run almost any mix of loadouts in a squad and still be legal.

Just read this, count me in, I did try something similar for a friends daughter (I tried painting a whole High Elf army for her that I had going spare) but unfortunately she passed on Boxing day last year before I even finished and I felt :cussing guilty for not managing it in time. Hopefully this time I can make a difference.

This is stark, tough perspective.

Mate I feel for you, for whatever it's worth. Things like this motivate me to do whatever small thing I can to help someone through that which can't be controlled.

Good Evening/afternoon/whatever time it is for you,

Sorry I've been out of this for a day or so, in the middle of a bathroom Reno.

I think the PAWG squad is a good idea. We already have the color scheme from Plasmaspam.

That gives plenty of options for cool modeling, bonus: he can use them as pack leaders if every dude ends up being 50 pts =P

If the folks in the states want to send as 1 lot, send me a pm and we'll figure out who is here vs the UK.

Cheers!

I just so happen to have some PAWG (heh) lying around unbuilt so I can get on with this tomorrow.

Any recommendations on what to highlight Administratum Grey with? Its quite a light colour as it is...maybe wash with agrax then highlight with Admin again?

Slave that's a fantastic idea.

Slave that's a fantastic idea.

Well I am 37 and if he sent me a signed book I would have a full on nerdgasm, so I guess it would put a smile on our pack brothers face.

So we are doing Wolf Guard then I guess?? I'll dig out my Wolf bits tomorrow and get cracking. :tu:

Is there a set standard for what we paint? Some of us here are crazy good painters and I just suck (at everything, ever) it would be handy if we all use the same amount of layers/blending/highlights etc etc. Oh and how are we basing the minis?

Copied straight from the Facebook admin's sticky post

Current List:

This list is not an all-encompassing list (although thanks to 1d4chan, I think I got most every unit available) and does not preclude multiple units. Who doesn’t need or want five Devastators Squads, oops I mean Long Fangs. I thought to limit the Special Characters to 1 or 2, but overall, send what you want and what you think will make Brand excited to see. If I miss an entry or something, it’s because I’m a bad admin and feel free to knock me up-side the head with a Frost Sword.

Recommended color scheme (not written in stone; do what you want; 9 out of 10 Space Wolves polled believe grey in their true color not baby-blue)

As written by Joakim Moritz

Base: Administratum grey

Of colours: red and black

Left pad: yellow w. Wolf head

Right pad: red/black with the symbol as in the picture in white.

The symbol is Aegiz, a "horror helmet"

So put on the Amon Amarth, start assembling and painting, and make this truly a Great Company.

There you go SlavetoDarkness.

Okay, so Wolf Guard it is.

How many contributors do we have &what sort of timescale do we have? Need to get a little organised now that we are going to do this.

There is not anything much lighter, except for white.

I would either start with dawnstone as your dark colour then use admin grey, or use admin grey and wash with a nuln/agrax mix. then highlight with admin grey

Think we could get A DB to sign a copy of his Ragnar novel for him?

I like this idea, but it might be better going to Black Library direct?

Oh yeah, basing...This is how I'm currently doing mine. Snow, sparse grass and bare rock (cork sheet). So thats what I'll probably aim for unless people have other ideas?

The basing is cool.

Plasmaspam: any ideas what basing Brand is hoping to use?

Sorry I have no facebook.

I can get a mini done in a week (seems a long time I know but special models require special care!) depending on how long it takes to do that shoulder pad design!

Which shoulder pad design?

If the Aegishjalmar, I would suggest using a chaos star decal then using paint to modify the ends?

What Wolf Guard symbol shall we use to show they are from the same pack?

Also should we put a campaign mark of some type on our mini's to show they are from the BnC?

Where has the idea of using the aegishjalmar come from? I can't see in the FB post anything about it, that says left pad yellow with black wolf head (blackmanes) and the right in black with a red aegiz. I consider myself a reasonable painter, but I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be able to paint an aegishjalmar on a mini anywhere.

Great idea regarding a signed copy.

We could ask Chris as well for a signed Leman Russ copy.

Furthermore, I think I found something I could send him. A digital copy of Inferno (or the related SW parts by scanning them, etc.) along a letter from us, the BnC SW rout. If that would be suitable.

I cannot find a rune called Aegiz, but I did find one called Algiz which is this.

maxresdefault.jpg

As it is a pack marking, we could probably run with that. Unless someone on FB has posted a model specifically with the Aegishjalmar marking.

screenshots from the FB group explaining the background to this Aegiz/Algiz symbol.  Post was quite long so have had to spread it over two images.

edit - sorry, images turned out too small to read, so here's Joakim Moritz's text from the post:

We have decided on this colour scheme from the bearded fellas.

Base: Administratum grey
Of colours: red and black
Left pad: yellow w. Wolf head
Right pad: red/black with the symbol as in the picture in white. (If we get the transfers to print white, otherwise we will rethink)

The symbol is Aegiz (picture below is a "horror helmet")

This rune represents the animal kingdom, and is called the elk-rune. It also represents our followers (spiritual companions and "guardian angels") and power animals.

Algiz is an important rune to have access to, to build up its inner strength. One of the most important aspects of Algiz is protection from evil forces, and perhaps the most powerful protectionist is the combined rune, composed of four elk-runes in a cross, with the "horns" outwardly called "horror helmet", and as the name suggests is a kind symbolic helmet, or protection, against terrifying phenomena.

That is easy enough to do.

bind-rune-health.jpg

Might consider this as a campaign mark on my wolf, maybe on the leg somewhere.

Another norse rune for good health is this:

d78eb615bd82b4141c5c888af2abdaf5.gif

Could maybe be used as a BnC signifier, wishing him good health in his on-going fight?

So fun story, when you actually use the web version of B & C you can actually see where folks are located. :biggrin.:

Folks who've signed up for minis so far (Plasmaspam already doing a bunch so left him off):

US

Me

Wulfgar76

Kassill

Other side of the Pond

Yoyo ninja

Wolf Lord Hardrada

Wolf_Priest_Dantay

Karhedronuk

Slave to Darkness

Looks like 9 folks have signed up for minis, need 1 more for a pack of 10.

-We all have different skill levels of painting, so I think "try your best" is the standard we should try to meet.

-My freehand skill is limited, but I think Algiz may be manageable.

-I mentioned sending the stuff off by November 1, but we can try for earlier. Does anyone want to move the timeline left?

Please don't count me for minis. I either paint or collect these. I'm just a fluff guy. ^^

That's why I'm thinking about sending him the Vlka extracts from my copy of Inferno. ;)

Plasmaspam? Could you give me a link of said FB group? I'd like to get in contact and ask if that would be reasonable. :)

November 1st is fine with me.

I'll put an extra Wolf Guard in, to bring it up to 9.

Although they want red and black, wit a white Aegiz symbol, that wwould be for Grey Hunters.

As we are doing Wolf Guard, they would have Yellow and Black.

So what Colour for the Aegiz?

And we need a pack marking. Do we go with plain yellow and a black Aegiz mark, or black and yellow pattern with, say a red Aegiz mark?

Put me down for more than one mini. I love building Wolfguard, love it more than food *he says as he swallows a whole packet of jam doughnuts without licking his lips*. Just lemme know how many you need, I'm even asking local wolf gamer's if I can raid their bitz box's for juicy gizmos and doodads aplenty. :tu:
