question on Chaos Icons

So I have just finished three squads of NL raptors, without icons. Then the book dropped, so I immediatly ordered another box so I could convert a guy for each squad to have a Nurgle icon. However, does is matter which guy in a unit carries the icon? I.e. my units are guys of five, two special weapons and a champion and two normal guys. The normal guys die first as they are ablative wounds, but if I make one of them a icon bearer, I'll only have one ablative wound before I start removing the cool guys. When I read the book, it does not specify which guy has to take the icon, so does this mean I could give the icon to the champion? That way he'll always be the last man standing and still receive all the buffs.

No champ with icon in V8 (it does say : A raptor, not the Raptor champ). 

 

Give it to one of the two special weapon bearer.

Yeah, i had the same reaction. I know that NL aren't the biggest fans of the Chaos Gods in the lore, but when the entire army has an anti leadership ability, it just makes sense to enhance that in any way.

Noooooope, look again at the datasheet.  Under the wargear section it says "One model may take a Chaos Icon (pg 153)."  Emphasis mine.  Not "one Raptor," but one "model," which means that you can indeed put the Icon in the hands of the Champion.
