I have come to you lovely people to ask about Amendara Kendel. There seems to be quite a difference between Kendel in 'The Voice' and 'Ghosts Speak Not'. At the end of 'The Voice' Amandera seems aghast at Herkaaze breaking her Oath and using her voice. However, jump to 'Ghosts Speak Not' and we have Kendel speaking normally and part of the Sigilite's inner circle.

Are here some books in the middle that I am missing or does the change happen 'off screen'?

Cheers, Torvak Kyre

Is there an in story lore explanation as to why shes breaking her oath and speaking?? Who is she speaking to? I can understand if its the Emperor or maybe even possibly Malcador (maybe) but im pretty sure the Sisters of Silence dont speak at all.

From memory the only members of their order who do speak are young girls who have not been fully Knighted. Most sisters have their gorgets permanently bonded to their lower jaw to prevent speech.

As far as I'm aware, there is nothing particularly concrete, just that she is now one of Malcador's chosen which I guess comes with some freedoms.

The description of the story does say "former" sister of silence. So she left her oath behind.

I don't know of any story that fills the gap.

Ok. Thanks for the help.

Kendel was described in Ghosts Speak Not as having her hair close-cropped not shaved with the ponytail, and being a former Sister of Silence, so probably Malcador released her of her oath to serve as his agent. Probably she's one of the first inquisitors of the Imperium, and probably the one writing all the story in the FW books (Signing "AK" seems as a proof to me).

Not necessarily. There are many fragments where the writer who's telling all the story of the HH admits that she/he doesn't know with certainty about particular aspects of the conflict, or those aspects are censured, or are stated as "rumours". Maybe is not Amendera the one telling the whole conflict, but those "AK" initials at the end of the preface, and the fact that she ends up being an important member of the new Imperium as long as we can deduce from his appeareance in Ghosts Speaks Not, seems like a strong proof. Would be poetic too, that a former Sister of Silence is the one telling all the truth at the end.
