Gentlemanloser
It was brutal. 1.5k. Mate was using a skew list of 7 fexes as he'd not used any yet. And wanted to see what they were like on the table. Old one eye Venomcannon fex Devourer fex 1 fex 3 stonecrusher fexes. Harpy Mawlock Trigon with 30 devil gaunts GK were GMNDK 3 pallies Apoth 5 strikes Raven 2x Twin AC razors Twin LC razor No Mercy, Dawn of War Game ended with nids being tabled. I lost 2 paladin and the Apoth. Strikes never disembarked from the Raven. Highlights. Apoth failed 5 saves from 90 gaunt shots. Cuirass saved 2. Charged by Mawlock. Harpy attacked first (road blocking Razor) so i counter attacked Mawlock with Apoth. Mawlock then killed him but 'only in death' saw the Apoth take the mawlock with him. Harpy died to Raven overwatch. The Carnifexes were simply too slow. And got picked apart. Fun game though. Raven was a beast. Reclusiarch Darius
Yeah skewing large monsters is a bad idea versus GK. Nids kinda need their codex to come out to finalise their list. I'd be more concerned fighting Genestealer spam. They're hellishly fast and can tear down most things in melee. Roguester
Do GK even have problems with melee lists like Harlequins or Genestealers?..I would have thought that it's easy enough to gun them down as their sub-par shooting won't even touch the GK and there are too many wounds per model for them to deal with..I know they are crazy fast though. Constantine Valdor
Yeah, the issue is speed. They have a crazy big threat range, and it's even crueler when they drop in a Swarmlord and have a full squad of Genestealers in a Trigon. First turn charge, lads, watch out for it. Gentlemanloser
GSC can be nasty for first turn charges. 2.5k in an hour against nids again. I think heel be using different stuff this time. Devil guants off trigrons are scary. If they weren't S4 they'd be ok. But 90 S4 shots. Basically pushes everyone to be embarked in transports to survive thier (and our!) Alpha strikes. For the lolz I'm putting down a 10 man Pally squad tonight. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/339399-gk-versus-carnifexes/#findComment-4892054 Share on other sites
Gentlemanloser
Biggest dissapointment of the evening. Nids all bunched together with 30 gaunts spread out in a line. Apothecary DS. Primes Vortex. Gaunts are closest unit, and every other deployed nid unit would be within 3" of them. Oh my. Happy days! /rolls Failed. CP reroll. Failed. GAAAHHHHHH. second would be Draigo deepstriking, not getting a charge. Then next turn being attacked by 90 gaunt S4 shots, hit by 39. Wounded by 23. And failing 7 saves... Back to the warp he went after doing nothing! Was a much closer match, but GK still prevailed. Adeptus
Pretty sure Vortex only hits other units within 3" of the target model, not target unit. Holier Than Thou
"... of that model" Yep, it hits the nearest model and all units within 3" of that particular model, not it's unit. Beams
Right, but mortal wounds spill. So if you kill a model by dealing 3 mortal wounds, and it only has one hit, it'll kill 2 others. Gentlemanloser
Ah. Votex will now target baneblades. And not 30 strong chaff units! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/339399-gk-versus-carnifexes/#findComment-4894268 Share on other sites
Helycon
Sadly, it'll need to be the closest unit, but otherwise, yes! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/339399-gk-versus-carnifexes/#findComment-4894275 Share on other sites
