Khannis
#Warning: No Magpies allowed.# So, I wanted to come up with some coherent fluff to unite my 30k and 40k forces in a single story, and I thought about drawing them from either the fleet elements who were ordered by Magnus to leave Prospero before the battle, or from elements who were somewhere else altogether. In either case the idea is that they later aligned with Ahriman and his dream to save the legion, after thousands of years lost in the eddies of warptime. Now, if I remember correctly, most of the Sons and their high-ranking officers were in Prospero. Do we know how big the aforementioned fleet elements were? What about personnel that weren't recalled after Nikaea? My Google-fu unfortunately didn't yeld results. If any of our more prominent scholars could shed some light on this, I'd greatly appreciate it :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/339491-lost-thousand-sons/ Share on other sites
Furryblueelf
I thought all the supposition, superstition, and conspiracy theorists had determined that the fleet that was sent away, ends up being the Blood Ravens especially their propensity for psykers and 'lost past'. The warning at the top was to adress this theory directly, as from what I understand, it was verbally and directly debunked by Laurie Goulding. Hence, Revuel Arvida isn't Azariah Vidya (it was a pretty tenous connection in the first place). Prot
I think the iron warriors one you are referring to is The Primarch series Magnus the Red, Master of Prospero Yup that's it. I really didn't care for the main storyline but the Thousand Sons were very interesting and their interaction viewed through the Iron Warriors was very interesting. I really didn't care for the main storyline but the Thousand Sons were very interesting and their interaction viewed through the Iron Warriors was very interesting. The main storyline was ok, but the book had some wonderful insights. But the Perturabo one is a lot better, even though I like him less. So, it's looking like it's pretty plausible having some hundreds lost in time and space in a lone ship. Plus, keeping their red, white and gold Prot 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/339491-lost-thousand-sons/#findComment-4888961 Share on other sites
Excessus
In the "Inferno" black book from FW it states that only around 62,000 out of 80,000-90,000 TS were on Prospero when the battle happened so I'd say it's more than plausable that some ships where "lost in transit". I really feel that Thousand Sons did not do much for the great crusade lol. I mean I know they were struggling with mutation until Magnus made that bargain with Tzeentch but come on! But seriously, they tried to change everyone's mind and warn the dick on the Golden Throne. And I assume the whole Legion was on the field and conquering for at least several decades, no? bozo69pd
They weren't really conquerors though. You look at the number of systems brought to compliance from all the other legions, then you look at TS and are like hrmmm. I bet they gained more knowledge than the rest of the imperium combined in that time though. Too bad it was lost with Tizca. Excessus
They were crusading for a long time. Magnus was one of the first primarchs found. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/339491-lost-thousand-sons/#findComment-4889506 Share on other sites
Zodd1888
I think it was Prospero Burns where Magnus was respecting the culture until some fool started firing off and golems started wreaking havoc. Magnus seemed more content with understanding and building relationships with cultures rather than demanding compliance to further his pursuit of knowledge. But that was his way of seeking compliance, through knowledge and mutual understanding, what to him was the Imperial Truth. Zodd1888
That book is so good. Great perspective throughout. I would love to see a Daemon Primarch novel that showed a less peacemaker and was more Dr. Manhattan. I only recently read the complete Ahriman Omnibus, and the novels offer remarkable insight on the nature of daemon Magnus. Fascinating stuff (plus I always liked Ahriman).
