Multiple units in Drop pods

Hi guys,

 

I'm a bit confused there. Can you drop two separate 5-man units in a single drop pod? 

 

The idea behind is to put two dev squads with MM in a single droppod, you drop within 9 inches of your targets and deal damage at melta range with 8 MMs.

If the transport capacity is 10, then yes. However, keep in mind that you need more than half of your army (in units) on the table at the start of the game, so you'd need 4 units to balance out just the pod + 2 unit occupants.

4 units on a table is pretty easy achievable with just 2 tacs and two razorbacks/rhinos.

 

Devastators can now live up to their name :)

If anyone questions your placing more than one unit in a pod, the special ability of the drop pod reads :

 

During deployment, you can set up this model and any units embarked within it, ...

 

On the other hand, I would argue that you only need 3 units on the table to balance out the drop pod (1 unit) and two devastators (2 units).

Those tacticals would have to start on the table and not in the transport to count as being on the table.

That's a negatory there. We've already resolved this call. An embarked unit is considered to be in the same 'location' as its transport.

It says you need at least half not more than half.

My book says "at least half" must be deployed on the table, on page 215. To me that's up to and including exactly 50/50.
