Interrogator-Chaplain Ezra
Personally, I'm doing Zandri Dust with a sepia wash as a base for the armour. Closet Skeleton
Is it just me or does Death Guard Green seem very similar to Death World Forest? I've never used Death World Forest but it doesn't look similar. They're both definitely in the desaturated olive area of greens but one is DGG is paler and DWF is muddier. Guest
@Lord Marshal I am not so sure about that. I agree that the 30K look of the DG was awesome, but I think it would be a great representation of the Death Guard's fall to have a DG painted with the original scheme, but show the open, rust crusted/slimy breaks in his armor depicting his corruption. I think you would have to be a better painter than I to pull it off, but I think if done correctly it would look awesome! It would take a very skilled painter to pull it off, but I agree it would look great. My original though was the origianl scheme, but I'm just not good enough to pull it off, so thus why I made it ok for the Champion I have to still be white while the rest are green (see my prior post, this is how I justified the one white guy ) okay hopefully the board post this time... This is my attempt at a drone in 30k colors, what do you guys think? Lord Marshal
The white needs some weathering and maybe a wash like all the 30k tutorials advise (thing with the sponge) but otherwise looks great from where I'm looking. Also going to have to steal that effect with the slime trail oozing. Guest
The white needs some weathering like all the 30k tutorials advise of course, but otherwise looks great from where I'm looking. Also going to have to steal that effect with the slime trail oozing. Thanks not quite done yet, still need to do the leather below the eye and get some dryad bark brown to do the weathering on it. Following by leadbelcher on the studs and some typhus corrosion dripping from that. then mud around the edge of the base to tie it together. Still need some practice on dry brushing though. I'm not sure if I should keep making the steel all typhus corrosion and brass rust, or mix it up and how to do that. bozo69pd
I think a mostly water + agrax earthshade would add just the right dirtiness to that white. Looks good! Bloody Legionnaire
Caldersson, what if you painted all of the infantry in the new green colors and painted all of the vehicles in the Heresy colors? You could also add heavy weathering to the vehicles to make them look like the original units the legion would have used. It's something I'm considering for my DG. GuitaRasmus
I've tried about 7-8 different colour schemes now, trying to decide on one for my new army. The biggest challenge, imo, is getting the model to look dirty, while simultaneously having it "pop" on the table. For this, the green just doesnt work. Look at GWs pics; if you squint your eyes, they just look like part of the terrain. My old srmy was white with green trims, and while I want to try something different this time, I've given up on the greens. I'm almost decided on a scheme now - it's sort of a compromise between the green and white. It's based on a mint green Rotting Flesh colour, faded out to white zenith highlights, with warm browns and cold greens as shadows. Looks good and dirty, while still having lots pf pop on the tabletop. Mack
Im using a very light green as my base. I feel I get a good contrast with it. Still have some finish work to do, but happy with the color. Also going to have to steal that effect with the slime trail oozing. I messed up on that trail to be honest, I should have painted over the white primer. I don't have dryad bark which I believe is the closest to Stirland Battlemire. I plan on taking the Fleshmower and instead of a slime trail do splattering pools of Blood For The Blood God and Nurgles Rot. I've been trying to make them sit together without mixing to show that it is freshly done. You could also add heavy weathering to the vehicles to make them look like the original units the legion would have used. It's something I'm considering for my DG. While that would be a neat idea, I only planned on using the drones, crawler and hauler all of which are daemonic and it would make less sense. Plaguecaster
I really want to go with a really pale blue almost like a verdigris effect but have no idea how I'd achieve it so I'd probably go the simple deathguard green but with a much darker tone Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/339637-death-guard-green/page/2/#findComment-4893488 Share on other sites
Gratan
Once I get my eye bandage removed, hopefully will get the rest of my DI models assembled. I'm probably going to use Army Painter Military green as a base, or I might splurge and get Death Guard Green. Havent decided. I do like the Military Green from AP though. Think its a bit darker than DG Green. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/339637-death-guard-green/page/2/#findComment-4893513 Share on other sites

Brother-Chaplain Kage
Baharroth Blue looks pretty close to the Nilakh Oxide (or however it's spelled) technical paint if you're just wanting to use it as a base, but you did say "almost like a verdigris effect", so are you wanting something else as the base with the blue on top of it?
