Itsacon
For a conversion, I'm looking for a holstered plasma pistol. I know I can use any closed holster and say it's a plasma pistol, but due to the specific wargear of this model (Belial from the Storm of Vengeance campaign), I'd prefer it to be recognizable as a plasma pistol. The only model I know of that has this is Shiv from the Last Chancers, but that's a metal model, and the bit is hard to seperate. Does anyone know of a kit or model that has this either as a bit, or easily seperable? Non-GW sources are fine too. DreamIsCollapsing
Why dont you take a plasma pistol, take a bolt pistol holter and cut ? Add eventually some blue glaze on the holter (if you paint your plasma blue) to represent the glowing plasma shining throught the holter so it's more recognizable (even if logicaly the marine would turn off his plasma pistol) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/339645-is-there-a-holstered-plasma-pistol-bit-anywhere/#findComment-4892037 Share on other sites
Major_Gilbear
What about using a closed holster, trimming the end off it and a plasma pistol, and then gluing the plasma pistol tip to the holster end? That would essentially replicate the version that Shiv is armed with. You can also add a little strip of putty or plasticard across the end on the holster as well if you want it look even closer to Shiv's. Itsacon
Yeah, if I can't find a suitable bit, I'll just kitbash/sculpt my own. I'd probably sculpt a holster around a plasma pistol, so I can go for a minimalistic holster showing much of the pistol. But I am curious if anyone knows of a good-looking bit somewhere. Imren
I believe the easiest way is to take a plasma pistol and wrap a very thin piece of green stuff (cut to holster shape) around it and sculpt a holster of the wrapped green stuff. Major_Gilbear
Official holsters are normally smaller (and certainly slimmer) than the actual weapons they are supposed to contain (heroic scaling... 'nuff said), so putting a holster over a weapon will always end with a bulky result. Unless that's what you're after, adding a few little trimmed pistol bits to a holster will usually be neater. I suppose you can also add a holster over a pistol of your choice, make a press-mould of it, and then cast a shallower 1-sided version of the master to use on the model. A bit more work, but as well as being slimmer, it also allows you to make more in the future easily enough if you ever want to.
