RoadRunna
As i pay an EC loyalist list i can't run a Primarch but keen to kill some of the bad ones !! What Knight would people recommend as having the best chsnce of beating one in HTH? Charlo
Depends on the Primarch too... Seeing as you'll be fighting traitors here are how they stack up when fighting knights (so AV13) on a damage dealing basis. Fulgrim: Can only deal damage with a decent rend Perturabo: If he has the hammer watch out, otherwise he's only glancing on 6's Kurze: cannot touch a knight Angron: RUN. He is Initiative 7 and S9 AP2 Armourbane with Hatred. He'll dismantle Knights before they get to strike most of the time Mortarion: Lancer him, as you'll be striking first @I5. He can only glance on 6s too but has Sunder Magnus: S9 AP2 so fairly deadly. But he'll probably blast you with D-Fireballs as you get close... Horus: S10 AP2 and lots of attacks means he's dangerous Lorgar: Can hit a few times a S8 or SMASH for S10 with a re-roll. Both AP2 so mildly scary Alpharius: S6 AP1 Armourbane, so on average a glance against AV13, but if he pens you'll feel it. Lord Protector, Gorgoff, foamy248 and 2 others 5 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/339795-primarch-vs-knight/#findComment-4894921 Share on other sites
Jarl Kjaran Coldheart
That may be the best breakdown of facing Angron I’ve ever read Billy Butcher, Charlo and Brad_hutcho 3 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/339795-primarch-vs-knight/#findComment-4895116 Share on other sites
Daimhin
I feel your pain. I’m also running Loyaliat EC, but I’m compounding the problem by going for an Orbital Assault list! The only thing I have is a Leviathan, so I’m mostly looking at relying on masses plasma and Melta shooting! LtDan
Id prob go for the lancer tbh. Few ap2 shots before it goes into combat. It also has a save in combat. RoadRunna
I think the lancer is ahead in HTH due to perhaps the +1 Int on the charge... all HTH Knight weapons are pretty similar (Sth 10 or D) . The Castigator also looks pretty handy in being able to deal with any bodyguard or squad that tries to muscle in on the HTH party. Gorgoff
Loyal Emperor's Children could take their own custom 'Primarch' as an ally: The Tankibune ;) Edited September 26, 2017 by Gorgoff Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/339795-primarch-vs-knight/#findComment-4895783 Share on other sites
Charlo
The Lancer seems nice with the I buff, but most of the time it's totally useless as the Primarchs are mostly higher than I5 or if not they have an unwieldy weapon. Thanks for the praise on the breakdown guys - it's astounding what you can achieve when you're avoiding work Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/339795-primarch-vs-knight/#findComment-4895808 Share on other sites
LtDan
The atropos is my favourite as you get a d shot before you brawl into combat but its mech only. Just pic which you think looks the best RoadRunna 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/339795-primarch-vs-knight/#findComment-4896156 Share on other sites
RoadRunna
Knights now appear to be removed as a LOW choice for legion now under the new red book. Not listed in the viable LOW list Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/339795-primarch-vs-knight/#findComment-4974567 Share on other sites
Charlo
Yup. To take them you need to: Be Mechanicum Run them as an allied detachment of Questoris Knights (at least 2) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/339795-primarch-vs-knight/#findComment-4974609 Share on other sites
infyrana
Can you run a normal plastic kit knight and an Atropos as an allied detachment (HQ and troop I assume?), or would you need a second plastic kit? Still waiting on my book. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/339795-primarch-vs-knight/#findComment-4974677 Share on other sites

Absolutely yes :) You'll need the Questoris Army List though too. infyrana 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/339795-primarch-vs-knight/#findComment-4974694 Share on other sites
infyrana
Great, thank you, I figured the atropos might as well be my answer to "why no sicaran venator?". HS slots were already too full. To the original topic, does it do much versus some of the primarchs, or nothing compared to the Lancer? Charlo
It's big nasty D hits so will do a lot if it survives! Problem is they won't often be alone and as per my summary above, a few of them can hit pretty hard before you get to strike. infyrana 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/339795-primarch-vs-knight/#findComment-4974752 Share on other sites
Brad_hutcho
That breakdown of Angron, I can't like it enough. Once I've built and painted mine, I look forward to him shredding armour like its paper Charlo 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/339795-primarch-vs-knight/#findComment-4994726 Share on other sites
Withershadow
The Lancer seems nice with the I buff, but most of the time it's totally useless as the Primarchs are mostly higher than I5 or if not they have an unwieldy weapon. Thanks for the praise on the breakdown guys - it's astounding what you can achieve when you're avoiding work The Initiave bonus is not huge, although it does allow striking at the same time as hammerless Ferrus, Dorn, Perturabo, Mortarion, and Vulkan. More importantly, it actually gets a save in melee.
