There it is! Discussion to follow.

EDIT: summary

Mordian Infantry get +1 LD and +1 to hit in Overwatch if all models in a unit are in base contact with at least one other model from the same unit; Mordian Vehicles get +1 to hit in Overwatch if within 3" of another Mordian Vehicle.

Mordian Order allows a unit to target Characters with Rapid Fire weapons, even if they are not the closest unit.

New Astra Militarum Stratagem allows Vehicles to hit on a 5 and 6 in Overwatch for 1 CP.

Russes get a points reduction of unknown amount, and if they move half their available move distance they get to fire their turret weapon twice (must be at same target). Turret still fires Heavy Weapons at full BS even if it moves. #Awesome #Blessed

Russes can now fire twice if they move half! Now they may be worth it. 49 shots from a punisher anyone??????

Also mordians have some lethal orders. being able to pop characters with rapid fire weapons is so useful!

Vehicles also get +1 to overwatch if within 3" of another vehicle. Oh and strageem with lets you hit on a 5 or a 6 with overwatch. combined.... this lets you hit on a 4+ for overwatch! If you do this on a malcador defender, you overwatch on a 3+ with it (it gets +1 to overwatch anyway)..........

I am very excited about other regiments now!

Grinding Advance is a much needed boost for the Russ. I can see it being very strong on the longer range weapons (yay for the basic Battle Tank), a little less for the shorter ranged Demolisher, but even with that you can advance to a choke point or objective and then hold position the rest of the battle for those double shots.

I like the Mordian doctrine too, it fits how I see my mixed Praetorian/Mordian detachment playing. Form ranks, hold firm, spam the 'first rank fire...' lasgun order. That new order will be useful too if a character is in line of sight but not the closest.

Yesterday made be very happy for my Catachans, today made me happy for my Mordian/Praetorian units and Leman Russ all-round.

How to you interpret the new Russ rule: Can I already shoot twice in the second turn?

It's pretty simple. If you move less than half your movement, you can fire the main gun on a Leman Russ at the same target twice.

I feel like the Mordian specific rules are fluffy, and encourage a specific style of play (obviously static gunline), by incentivizing the guard player to be a little more okay taking charges and casualties. Definitely true to fluff.

Overall, I'm not sure the Mordian Regimental Doctrine is stronger than the Catachan one, but that order certainly is dy-no-mite! Pure nastiness with plasma.

Hmm, I'm now wondering what historicals might represent mordians really well. I was looking fro 19th.c prussians but there aren't any plastics that I could find.

That said it would be fun to play Praetorians using the mordian rules and these chaps:

Then again I might just build a tank company to support my steel legion.

Most 28mm Historical lines are 'normal' scale compared to GW's 'heroic' scale, which means they're considerably smaller. Victoria Lamb (Victorian Miniatures) does awesome Praetorian's (and Mordians) in a scale that matches GW

£30 for 10 though... I'm not sure I want to pay even more than Gdub

True that.

That said the recent GW kitbash: https://whc-cdn.games-workshop.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/PreviewSep14-Boxout3krc.jpg shows how you can paint standard Cadians in dress uniforms. If you're willing to have your Mordians/Praetorian's wear flak armour, a simple head swap such as these could get you there.

Sooooo they said something about Mordian plasma gunners becoming really deadly... only GW never released a metal Mordian with plasma. Each of the original 2nd edition lines only had three special weapons. For Mordians it was Grenade Launchers, Flamers, and Meltaguns.

Curious indeed.

Holy crap.

Catachan LR just went next level.

The Mordians seem fine, but it's a reactive rather than proactive set of Abilities and that isn't optimal IMO.  The fact that their models are ridiculously hard to get at this point is annoying, too.  Not saying they're BAD, but I prefer aggressive rather than defensive strategies (yes, even by Guard standards).
