gunnyogrady
Hey folks! I've been bopping around this forum for a little while now, I figured it was time to put up some of my models and background. Especially what with the new Edition and Codex, I'm excited to get out there and earn some wins for the Emperor's second-finest. Or third- or fourth-finest, you know. They're fine. I'll leave this first post for a little bit of fluff to be filled in later, and commence straight away in the next posts with the goods: WIPs and Minis! +Carcatha: Society and Caste System+ Carcatha, a planet of bountiful seas and one vast Pangea, has a particular genetic divergence. Their population is genetically predisposed to giving birth to males at a rate of only one female for every twelve men. As a result, family names and trades are passed down through mothers, and Carcathan society is largely matronymic. On Carcatha, there are three castes into which citizens are born, and a fourth militarized government arm which any Carcathan may join, abandoning their family name. The three castes and one Corps are: Ruling Caste - Smallest in number and highest in regard, the Ruling Caste is a genetically small group of Baronesses, Duchesses, and many lower ranks, led by an Archduchess. Their seat of power is Cathrach Capitis, the Capitol City, and their Imperially-supported rule is accepted universally and unequivocally. Any conversation with a Ruling Caste is a low-friction environment, as their most capricious word is carried out as most sacred law. Ruling Caste officials are accompanied by a court staff consisting mainly of their brothers, the unlucky males born as a royal mother attempted to produce a female heir. Caste Motto: "Parvus Numerus, Magna Arbitrantes" Guild Caste - Many merchants, craftspeople, artisans, and tradesmen make up the population of Carcatha, much like any other Imperial World. In Carcatha, however, families pass down their trade or craft from daughter to daughter through the generations. Each daughter's responsibility is to master the family's craft and, in turn, produce a female heir to which she can teach it. Each son's responsibility is to serve as their sister's faithful helper, crew, and labor. The family names of greatest esteem - and greatest danger - are those of the Fisherman Guild. Carcatha's chief export to the Imperium is seafood from it's immense oceans, and hulking fishing ships as large as a small cities roam the oceans year-round. To meet a Sister-Captain and her Brother-Crew on dry land is a rare sight, and even Ruling Caste are curious to hear tales of sea monsters and forgotten islands. Caste Motto: "Ex Filiae Ut Filiae" Warrior Caste - In spite of idyllic conditions in the Capitol and the flourishing fishing industry, vacationing Imperial Officials would be surprised to learn that the continent is divided into two nation states, at war since time immemorial. The mountain warriors of the craggy state to the West, Publicae Primus, look down upon the swampy guerrilla fighters of the lowlands to the East, Publicae Dominus. Their constant warfare crafts Guardsmen who serve admirably in the Imperial Tithe to the Astra Militarum. Munitorum Officials are happy to turn a blind eye to the conflict in exchange for supplies of experienced fighters instead of wide eyed conscripts. Although the root cause of their conflict is long forgotten, the Warrior Caste of the Publicae Primus and Publicae Dominus are now mired in a culture of willpower, honor, and hatred that will never be stopped until one side wipes the other from the Carcathan Continent. Caste Motto: "Honorus, Victis, Mortis" Maritime Raider Corps - For those men, and occasionally women, who don't want to spend their lives serving in the Caste of their birth - taking up the mantle of Motherhood or dying in the endless continental wars - there is another option. Any citizen may forsake their Matyr-Name and join the Maritime Raider Corps. This militarized arm of the Carcathan government reports directly to the Ruling Caste, and carries out a vital two-part role. Their first job is to protect the massive ships of the Fisherman Guild from attack by the myriad leviathans of Carcatha's deep and treacherous waters. Combat with these monsters requires steely resolve, coordinated ordnance, and almost always terrible sacrifice. It is unusual for these so called "Monster Hunters" to live past thirty. But the Raider Corps is an amphibious force, and their other essential duty is to launch ashore and engage forces of the Warrior Caste as directed by the Ruling Caste. Often, their renowned Reconnaissance Battalions will strike with surgical precision, putting an end to Warrior Caste offensives which would otherwise result in egregious losses of civilian life or vital infrastructure. The culture of the Raiders is one that embraces their own likely death with humor and resolve. Caste Motto: "Nobis Mare Est Mater" +The Carcathan Maritime Raider Corps+ The sky was jet-smoke black, a crisp morning dark that disoriented a couple dozen sleep-crusted eyes. A gaggle of men, mostly Guild Caste, stood assembled in a droopy drill formation. The huge civilian transporter coughed and sputtered, and then steered back into the lonely road it had bumped along all night to get here. It's cargo disgorged, the vehicle disappeared back down the woodland road. The group looked around at the small complex of wooden-beamed obstacle courses and portly brick buildings. There was a certain austere beauty about it, the isolation and the pragmatism. "Let's get two things straight. One, when you see me you should stand as upright as a scarecrow with a lasgun up its bum." The raspy voice cut through the night. Idly bobbling heads whipped around to face it. A man with the cleanest shaven face you could ever see had somehow materialized. "And two, I am NOT your mama." The Drill Adept clunked towards the group with a lurch, one leg a mechanical replacement from the hip down. He continued. "You are no longer proud members of your Caste. You are no longer a proud son of your Mother. But wait!- If I'm not your mama, well then who is?" Only the wind responded. "YOU! Do you know who your mother is?!" The boy stammered "I- I- my mother is called Madame Lisae, of the Steelworker's Guild-" "NO!" The Drill Adept bellowed. "No! Your mother is NOT Missus Whoseherface from the Guild of nobody-gives-a-stink! Your mother is the one who gave me this leg!" He slapped the metal appendage. "...is it made of steel, sir?" "If you open your mouth in front of me ever again, I'm going to stick a toothbrush in it and make you oil my knee joint with it at zero-dawn thirty every morning for the rest of your life." The boy swallowed silently and nodded. "It was a Leviathan took my leg! Big sonnovamother! Took my leg in its mouth! I had to retrieve my boot knife out of it's gullet in order to kill it, because my Throne-blessed, severed foot was kicking it in the tonsils at the time! And the docs patched me up, and I thanked your mother for my shiny new leg. YOU!" He wheeled to another, "Do you know who your mother is?!" "Sir! I was Warrior Caste! My mother was killed in a raid by-" "NO! Throne! You were not a Warrior Caste! You were not ever anything but a pile of Grox Dung before today! And your mother? I'll tell you, she ain't dead. She alive and kicking." The Drill Adept surveyed the assembly of weaklings, pissants, and flounderers. "Do any of you know who your mother is?" No one dared respond. "The Maritime Raider Corps has a Motto. Nobis Mare Est Mater. The Sea is Our Mother. As of this moment I can guarantee, you will die for your mother. And I am not your mama because I am going to teach you how to keep that salty cur away from your soul for as long as possible. As of this moment, you are someone different, better. As of this moment you have broken the chains of your Caste and your birth. And the only price you will have to pay is Death, and Discipline." gunnyogrady
I wanted to start by posting the conversions that I'm most proud of. These guys are my Militarum Tempestus/Storm Troopers. If they stay effective in the new 'Dex, I'll be making a second batch in the near future! They involve GW parts with additional bits from three different third-party companies. In my army, they represent the real nasty Operator types. Bits used: Heads: Devgru heads by Madrobot Miniatures Torsos: Combat Armored Torsos by MaxMini Legs: Catachan legs by GW Arms: Catachan arms by GW (w/ greenstuff) Weapons: M-Guns by Maxmini Sights/Targeters by Anvil Industries I've also used the same bits to construct two snipers, and a two-man team using a laser target designator (stand-in for Sabre Weapons Battery w/ Defence Searchlight, because I love that +1 to hit for Conscripts and HWS). The only difference is that these guys use the bearded Special Operations heads from madrobot instead. Pictures of them next, and then of some tank graffiti and an LAV-25 -inspired Taurox Prime conversion! PS: any pro-tips on resizing images for Bolter and Chainsword when you're on an iPhone and can't get your computer on? Ranulf
Nice Mil-Spec look to the miniatures. Call me a purist, but I'd try to get something definitively 40K in there somewhere to differentiate the minis from other non-GW game systems. The Imperial Aquila would work wonders - on the flak vest or helmet - to tie the squad to 40K. GW weapons also work when third-party kitbashing, but you've already got some sweet longarms in there. gunnyogrady 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/339844-new-batrep-carcathan-raiders-recon-company-joker/#findComment-4896177 Share on other sites
gunnyogrady
Thanks Lord Ranulf! That's a great point about staying in the right world, and I agree. WIth my regular guardsmen and HWS, I definitely try to keep them more in the world of 40k. The Aquila in white really makes it pop - "hey, I'm grimdark!" With my tanks, too, I have an olive-drab, rusted-out appearance with white highlights on the Aquila, just to make sure we stay 40kish. More pics once I've got some time! duz_
Welcome Gunny! Models and photography look great! You can really sense the modern spec ops vibe. :tu: Looking forward to seeing those tanks and any batreps too! Are you working on anything at the moment? For resizing I use an app called Photo & Picture resizer gunnyogrady 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/339844-new-batrep-carcathan-raiders-recon-company-joker/#findComment-4896470 Share on other sites
gunnyogrady
@duz_ I will definitely check the app out, and thank you! At the moment I'm between 750 and 1000 points fully assembled and painted, with a big pile of assembled grey plastic acquired over the years. On the painting bench I've got a squad of 10 more infantry to finish that serve as either Conscripts or Infantry Squads, and I have a Celestine about 90% done in case I want to up my competitiveness a little. Got plenty of photos coming soon of my finished vehicles, infantry, and characters, too! duz_ 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/339844-new-batrep-carcathan-raiders-recon-company-joker/#findComment-4896476 Share on other sites
gunnyogrady
Lighting is bad in my apartment, but I'll try to get some more pictures up tonight or tomorrow. In the mean time, I've got my first few real games of 8th Edition tomorrow (aka: not casual small scale stuff in my house to test units/builds)!!! I'll try to take notes and report back either way. Here is my list for tomorrow, 1000pts, followed by basic strategy, anticipated opponents, and some questions for you all. C&C welcome: Battalion Detachment HQ - Company Commander w/ Bolt Pistol HQ - Tempestor Prime w/ Command Rod ELT - Platoon Commander w/ Bolt Pistol ELT - Commissar ELT - Astropath ELT - Scion Command Squad w/ 2x Meltagun TRP - Scion Squad w/ 2x Meltagun TRP - Scion Squad w/ 2x Meltagun TRP - Conscripts x20 FST - Hellhound w/ Inferno Cannon, Heavy Flamer HVY - Sabre Battery w/ Defence Searchlight DT - Taurox w/ Gatling Cannon, 2x HSVG, Heavy Stubber SPEARHEAD DETACHMENT HQ - Celestine ELT - 5x Ratlings HVY - HWS w/ 3x Autocannon HVY - HWS w/ 3x Autocannon HVY - HWS w/ 3x Lascannon 999pts 7 CP Basic Strategy: -Ratlings deploy pre-turn 1 to negate enemy deepstrike/first-turn-assault; -HWS, Company Commander, and Sabre hang back and shoot; -Conscripts, Celestine, Commissar, Astropath, and Platoon Commander charge forward; -Taurox Prime and Hellhound race ahead to screen Conscript Blob and disrupt opponent's plans; -Scions drop in to kill one or two things very dead. Anticipated Opponents: Primaris Marines, Death Guard, Tyranids Specific Questions: 1) If you were playing against this list, which unit would you be most worried about/target first? 2) Which unit would you be worried about the least/largely ignore? 3) Which unit should be the Warlord, and which Command Trait should they take? I will await feedback, and then report back with the stories of unmitigated success/crippling failures tomorrow, and adjust the list accordingly! Guardsman Bob
As a fellow Guard player probably the Ratlings. Gotta protect the essential personnel. With the Ratlings T2 I’d try to use up my S3 & S4 attacks first (wounding on 3+ and 2+) with hopefully with enough dice for them to fail those 4+ cover saves. Astropath would probably get a pass since killing him would draw fire away from other targets that have a bigger impact on my army. Your Warlord should be whoever is the least likely to get killed, Slay-the-Warlord is all over the place. That’s going to depend on the enemies composition. If they have some decent deep strikers the CC is dead. If they have a really good Assault army the Saint is dead. I might pick the Tempestor Prime but it would put a cramp in a proper suicidal combat drop. Good hunting Gunny. gunnyogrady 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/339844-new-batrep-carcathan-raiders-recon-company-joker/#findComment-4896659 Share on other sites
P3AKHOUR
Love it Gunny. Those photos are so atmospheric. I also have both those heads on a set of scions. Very nice sculpts. If you want to easily 40k them up, find some small Aquila stencils for their shoulder pads. even just the skulls n stuff from the cadian sheet would work, and not require you to repaint or add anything to these guys. gunnyogrady and walter h 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/339844-new-batrep-carcathan-raiders-recon-company-joker/#findComment-4896694 Share on other sites
Halfpint100
ratlings and lascannon hwt would be my first targets for easy first blood, while removing some annoying units. or the hellhound and hoping for an exploads result. Not sure what I would ignore. depends on the game and what the objectives are, every unit in your army can be useful, depending on the game. either the CC or celestine. With the 6+ FNP trait for your warlord. Depends on the game for which one you choose gunnyogrady 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/339844-new-batrep-carcathan-raiders-recon-company-joker/#findComment-4896711 Share on other sites
gunnyogrady
@Guardsman Bob, P3AKHOUR, Halfpint100 Thank you guys for the feedback! Based on your responses, what I will do is spread the Lascannons into the HWS, and float the Ratlings out as a Deepstrike-deny-bubble and intentional first casualty. With all these drops, I will surely go second. And going second, I'll lose first blood with either a HWS or the Ratlings. As long as I know I'm going to lose a unit, I may as well use try to use that as an opportunity to influence my opponent's choices. I'll float the Ratlings out front in some cover, in range of their characters: force my opponent's hand, and sacrifice a pawn so that they overextend a knight, so to speak. gunnyogrady
Alrighty folks, I report back in today with a battle report of my first game of 8th! More a brief battle summary, really. But first, a couple pics from the game! This shot shows the bulk of my deployment, with HWS in the ruins, Ratlings in the crater out front, my Taurox Prime conversion, and Conscripts wrapping around some characters (not pictured, around the corner of the building). Also to the top-right is my aggressively deployed Hellhound. This is my Sabre Weapons Battery with Defence Searchlight conversion, representing a dug-in infrared laser designator team. They are hiding valiantly behind this tank. 1000pts Astra Militarum vs Death Guard Opponent's List: Typhus, Sorcerer, Defiler, two units of 7x Death Guard Marines with 3x Plasma each, and one unit of 30x Cultists My List: as above We played Retrieval Mission (4 Objectives worth 3 points each) on the deployment type that is table corners with the 9" from the center null bubble. Objectives were placed equidistantly in the four quarters, basically as close to the center and each other as possible. I wrapped everything around a building ready to charge forward, with just the HWS and my CC staying behind to shoot. Scions waited in reserve to Deepstrike in. He dropped his Cultists in ruins on one objective opposite from HWS building, and set up one Plague Marine squad each ready to move towards the other two objectives. He kept the Sorcerer and Defilier back to shoot/cast, and kept Typhus in reserve to Deepstrike. Chaos T1: I fail to seize, he moves up and shoots, killing all the Ratlings for First Blood, and doing a few wounds to Taurox and Conscipts. Each Death Guard squad moves towards objectives. AM T1: I drop in three scion squads and Tempestor by one Death Guard squad, zoom the Hellhound right up in the grill of the other, and surge forward the Conscripts with Astropath, Celestine, Commissar, and Platoon Commander to support the Hellhound's push. HWS inflict a solid chunk of wounds on the Defilier. Opponent makes a ton of saves/Disgustingly Resilient rolls for his Marines, so I achieve no casualties against either Squad. Ouch. CHAOS T2: he drops Typhus in behind my HWS. For the next 3 turns, he proceeds to wipe them all out. My Company Commander runs away (to eventually sit on another objective), leaving Typhus with my original objective and Line Breaker. His overall shooting more-or-less wipes out the Scions, and pops the Taurox Prime. Hellhound takes damage in assault by Marines. Not looking great. AM T2: Celestine double moves with AoF to flame and assault the Marines who had charged my Hellhound, which has now withdrawn from combat and hidden behind a ruin. She kills most of them. The conscripts change direction, and head for his deployment zone, trying to wipe the Cultists off his objective. Tempestor Prime runs away and hides on two wounds. He will come back later to hold an objective with my (also cowardly) CC. CHAOS T3: Sorcerer moves up, tries to charge Hellhound, and is killed in Overwatch (he had taken damage from HWS w/ Orders). Defilier shoots Hellhound, which survives. Plague Marines who killed Scions move into cover by the objective. AM T3: Celestine finishes off Plague Marines with AoF free combat, and then moves towards cultists, flaming and eventually charging. Conscripts push towards Cultists, using FRFSRF. Cultists take a lot of casualties. CHAOS T4: Cultists back out of combat, but are still in the ruins and on the objective. Defilier shoots at Hellhound which survives on 1 wound, and then charges Celestine. He fails to wound her, she rolls hot, and the Defilier goes down. AM T4: Celestine flames the Cultists and moves towards the other Plague Marines on the objective, eventually charging them. The Conscripts move up again and FRFSRF the Cultists. They all flee from morale. The Hellhound moves back towards its original objective. CHAOS T5: Typhus finishes up with my fire base and sits on an objective. Plague Marines lose wounds to Celestine. AM T5: Celestine kills remaining Plague Marines. Company Commander and Tempestor Prime run to the newly freed up objective, claiming it. The Conscripts move up to his home objective, claiming it. The Hellhound (moving slowly) moves towards it's closest objective, claiming it. We roll a 2, and the game ends. AM: Line Breaker + 3 objectives = 10pts CHAOS: Line Breaker + First Blood + 1 Objective = 5pts My first game in 8th, and my first win in 8th! Chalk one up for the Astra Militarum! VIPs are obviously Celestine, Conscripts, and Hellhound. I felt solid about my recovery from early losses and poor shooting. I tried to play to the objectives and rely on the speed of my units to move around the board. Harrowmaster
Any chance of getting another angle on the sabre team? I'm thinking if doing something like that but not quite sure how to model it. gunnyogrady
@Harrowmaster I can definitely get you a picture of that team! Work just started again for me, so I keep getting home when the light is trash. Soon, though. I also come to you all with another battle report! This is actually my third game of 8th Ed. My second game was basically a meat grinder/slaughter at 3000pts, to which I contributed only my 1000pts of Guard. We won though, defeating 3000pts of Tau. I showed up without a match scheduled at my LGS, and ran into the same Tau player. I had only brought 1500 points that I was comfortable with, but he asked if I wanted to try 2000. I said that I was down, and scrounged up the extra models from my case. We played a mission type and deployment map I had never even heard of before, and we faced off! 2000pts Astra Militarum Vs Tau Lists Astra Militarum List Celestine 2x Company Commander 2x Tank Commander w/ Punisher, Lascannon Vindicare Assassin Commissar Astropath Ratling Squad 2x Scion Squads w/ 2x Meltagun 3x Infantry Squads w/ Boltgun 2x Autocannon HWS 1x Lascannon HWS Hellhound w/ Incinerator, Heavy Flamer Taurox Prime w/ Gatling Cannon, 2x HSVG, Heavy Stubber Baneblade w/ one set Twin- Heavy Bolter Sponsons 1996pts 7 CP Tau Shadowsun Cadre Fireblade Ethereal on floating disk thing 6x Stealth Suits w/ 2x Melta, 4x Blasters (+various drones) 4x Crisis Suits w/ 12x Missile Pods (+various drones) 4x Firewarrior Squads (8 in each) 2x Pathfinder Squads (5 in each) 3x Individual Broadside Suits w/ Plasma and Rail Rifles Pirhanna w/ 2x Drones/Guns ~2000pts 7 CP Map, Mission, Deployment The map was a grassy field with ancient stone ruins. An imposing grey cathedral with a tall steeple blocked line of sight in the middle of the table, and there were plenty of big chunks of area terrain across the board besides. The deployment zones were drawn from a deck of cards (Open War, I think they called it?). It was the map where Player A gets 15" from both short ends, Player B gets a strip of land in the center of the board of 18" across, and there is a 12" gap between Player B's zone and Player A's two zones. He won the roll off, I became Player B in the middle. The Mission was called King Slayer. Basically we played a meat grinder type mission, where you scored points based on the power level of the enemy units you killed. However, if you were able to kill your enemy's Warlord, your score was DOUBLED. Woah. We also drew a card called Dead of Night, which limited our shooting range to 12" on the first turn, and increasing after that each turn on a 4+. Double woah. My opponent made Shadowsun his Warlord, and I (of course) chose Celestine. Both of us chose the 6+ FNP Warlord Trait. My opponent deployed fairly evenly in both of his deployment zones, with Firewarriors/Pathfinders on one side, and all of his suits on the other (with the stealth suits poised to launch forward). I basically castled up on one half of my zone, right across from his Firewarriors, leaving the other half of my deployment zone bare. I wanted to put the bulk of my army far away from his Crisis and Broadside suits, rendering them out of range with their weapons for the first few turns. I also wanted to focus my fire on his Firewarriors/Pathfinders, which I deemed to be vulnerable to my tank-heavy list for the purposes of wiping units out and scoring points. Infantry Squads and Characters all fit inside a circular ruin. I also deployed my Ratlings stupidly, and they did nothing all game, but also were not killed/did not give up any points. The Vindicare sat in the Steeple, which = awesome. He had first turn because I had so darn many drops. I failed to seize. The Game Tau Turn 1 The Stealth Suits fly forward to start shooting at some exposed characters (Astropath and CC) that were badly deployed by yours truly. The Firewarriors and Pathfinders all shuffle up to get in triple-tap range. The Pirhana jets forward right in front of my Infantry squads and two Leman Russes. The Crisis Suits and Ethereal move up into a shack, and don't move for the rest of the game. I lose the Astropath, one CC, an Autocannon HWT, and a couple wounds off the Baneblade. AM Turn 1 I drive the Baneblade over some rocks and park it about 1.5" away from the corner of his Firewarrior cluster. My Hellhound, Taurox Prime, and Commander Russes all scoot over to get all guns within 12" as well. The Firewarriors took nasty casualties, and the Stealth Suits lost a drone or two to HWS. Celestine uses her AoF to move 24" total. She charges a Broadside, kills it, and then consolidates into another Broadside, who does no wounds to her. Tau Turn 2 The Stealth Suits move up and get into the circular ruin with my Infantry Squads and CC/Commissar. The Firewarriors scoot forward again. I lose Infantry, as per the norm. The Baneblade loses a whole mess of wounds to Shadowsun and her two Fusion Blaster Stealth Suit buddies. The Crisis suits and another broadside (not the one I charged) open up on Celestine, killing her. She rolls a 1 to get back up. I command re-roll it. She rolls a 2. I set her up behind the remaining Firewarriors and Cadre Fireblade across the table. Sorry I'm not sorry. AM Turn 2 My Scions drop in, killing a Broadside with Melta in one round of fire. I all but wipe out the remaining Firewarriors/Pathfinders with Tanks and Celestine. I forget to issue orders to my Infantry Squads because I am an idiot, but they only have lasguns anyway, so I don't feel that bad. I charge Shadowsun's unit, ALSO FORGETTING to declare a multi-charge to include Shadowsun. I try to charge the Hellhound into the combat, she fires her weapons because of their "For the Greater Good!" Special Rule, and she kills the unwounded Hellhound in a single round of shooting. Whoops. It does not blow up. Everybody passes morale, and we carry on. Tau Turn 3 Shadowsun and Stealth Suits jump out of the ruins, and combined fire from them and the Crisis suits across the board (our shooting range has increased almost back to normal by Turn 3) reducing the Baneblade to ONE WOUND. It was on this turn, or maybe the next, that he also destroys the Taurox Prime. AM Turn 3 Combined fire from everything I have destroys all the remaining Firewarriors, Pathfinders, Cadre Fireblade, Stealthsuits (and accompanying drones), and reduces Shadowsun to 2 wounds. Celestine charges in, dodges some fusion blasters, and kills Shadowsun in one round of combat. Tau Turn 4 He removes the last remaining wound from my Baneblade, and takes a good hard look at the board. I have slain his Warlord, so my points count for double now. In addition to that, he has only 4 Crisis Suits, an Ethereal, a Broadside, and some drones left on the board. He concedes the match. IMPERIAL VICTORY!!! I am very pleased to achieve this win. I learned that I can't deploy my Ratlings and Characters like an idiot, because in this game I did and it rendered them useless and dead, respectively. Also, I can't forget orders, but it wasn't that big a deal in the end. I learned that Celestine will remain a must-take in my lists, even if she is a pain to include without breaking Regimental Doctrines. The Baneblade (or another variant) will be that much better when the new 'dex drops. Same is true for the Russes. Once the Codex drops, I anticipate I will be all onboard for Tallarn Doctrines to keep everybody mobile. But there were times when some of those Cadian Re-Rolls would have been mighty helpful... something to consider for hardcore competitive play. Overall, I am very happy with how the game went, considering I had A ) never heard of the game type, B ) never seen the deployment type, and C ) had to bump up to 2000pts after intending to play with 1500pts. Thanks for reading! I'll try to get some pictures of this game up soon!
