I had an idea today, whilst bored at work, about taking Morty as LoW, plus an Outrider Detachment of DP with Wings and 3 Bloat Drones with Flesh Mowers. Run it up one flank and bulldoze everything. Then combine that with a Vanguard Detachment in the centre using a DP and a blob of 7 plasma-toting Terminators plus a Blightbringer and pair of Hellbrutes (One Lascannon/Fist and one MultiMelta/Scourge). Comes in at just under 2000pts.

tl/dr - Morty is fast but cannot Deep Strike. Hence needs to move with fast stuff to support him and provide target saturation.

I stated in earlier post, morty on one flank and DP with drones on the other..it's worked for me thus far. Drones take a fair amount of firepower to stop...three with a DP hiding in them can cause problems. Ultimately I think having Morty is great as he draws so much attention the other elements of our army can be wrongly overlooked

I have been experimenting with the same setup as you as far as the drones and prince are concerned.  I think having a fast moving battle group (or two) is essential to provide time for the infantry to close the distance.  What drone configuration are you using?

I have two of the DI ones with plague spitters, so just those. I have another two DI ones I got from eBay unassembled and will buy 1 new drone box so I have 5 then...three spitters, one blight and one mower. Edited by happyslugger

Thing about Morty's warlord trait is it benefits himself. Otherwise he just rerolls 1's to wound.

Not that he usually needs the full benefit. You'll wound T5 on 2s with your 18 attacks, and T9 on 2s with evis, not even counting Blades being cast. Other than that is his nurgling attacks that benefit?
