Deep Strike and Advance?

Hey folks,

 

As per the title - how do deep striking (eg. Jump Pack Assault) and Advancing interact?

 

Can we deploy an Assault Squad with meltaguns and Advance to be within melta range?

Deepstriking occurs at the end of the movement phase, so no more movement can occur. A unit that comes in from deepstrike can't advance.

That's my instinct also, but I'm sure I've seen comments somewhere recently saying it was an option.

Probably a leftover idea from previous editions, where advancing was running and you did it in the shooting phase, so you could deep strike in and then run, which was useful for stuff like assault terminators.

The rule is literally an inch from the advance rule in the "reinforcements" border text.

 

"Units set up this way may not move or advance further"
