It seems like the new codex does not contain any tricks for Scions gaining regimental keywords though they don't count against keywords for determining detachment doctrines, but Militarum Tempestus now has its own doctrinal rules if they are the detachment. Anyone else planning on running their Kasrkin as a separate detachment of Militarum Tempestus accompanying their Cadian detachment? Who's planning on just embedding a squad or two? Heck, anything I missed in reading the preview of the new codex that could impact all this?

I modeled my Kasrkin army on the assault brigade from DKoK. I imagine Cadia probable had similar regiments, but I am using Tauroxes (Prime) instead of Chimeras since they are described as rugged, fast vehicles. Great for crossing no man's land.

I have also added a Hereticus Inquisitor that has requisitioned them for cracking open traitor defenses at close range.

So I think I'm probably going to keep using DKoK rules for my infantry, since I get grenadiers, some great CC orders and good chimeras. It sounds like Valhallan tanks and conscripts will go well as supporting that very assault themed army going.

Well now this is interesting! I was under the impression that they would disrupt Regimental Doctrines. So they work like Bullgryns?

Are they still troops? And just to check I could run 4 Mordian Infantry Squads and 2 Scion Squads to fill out a Brigade Detachment, I still get the Mordian Doctrines for anyone with the generic <Regiment> keyword?

I doubt it, since they are their own regiment

Yep, somewhat like Bullgryns. You don't lose your Mordian regimental doctrine, but those Scions don't gain it nor will they benefit from their own unless they're in a detachment made up entirely of MT units.

They are still troops. Be advised that the cost of plasma on them went up, and the Taurox Prime got more expensive as well.

Yes you could. They say that Scions don't mess up the keywords, but only gain their bonus if they are by themselves.

If this is the case, I think I might just run Cadians as my doctrine, use My Kasrkin as Scions. I'll get Creed's model, and run my 4 squads of Kasrkin as "Kasrkin". Basically I just won't give them a tempestor prime to get them orders, since they'll be the front line advance (Deep striking in both at the front and behind the enemy), to shoot him up with hotshots, plasma, and a flamer. It's not the most efficient use of scions, since they won't get orders, but it would be difficult to get an officer in place to aid them, as they'll likely be spread all over. They're WS is good enough in a fight, plus if I pop the overwatch strategem they overwatch better. Seems like a solid strategy to me.

I have a bunch of current issue scions, but I have a patrol detachment's worth of them, With whom I will run my taurox primes. I'll probably run them with my Knights more than anything, since the Aesthetic is more in line...
