This is my current conundrum.

Getting my list finished for heat 1 of the GT at WHW.

I was all set on twenty hellblasters until the previews of the new Astra Mil codex came out...

I'm thinking of either a demolisher or regular Russ with 3 heavy bolters - as these are the models I have to hand.

Doctrine will be Vostroyan.

Rest of the list...

War Saints space marine battalion detachment - Salamanders tactics

Gravis Captain - Armour Indomitous

Primaris Librarian

Primaris Lieutenant - power sword

Primaris Ancient w/Banner of the Emperor Ascendant (-1CP)

Primaris Apothecary

Intercessors x5 - bolt rifles

Intercessors x5 - bolt rifles

Intercessors x5 - bolt rifles, power sword, AGL

Hellblasters x10 plasma incinerators

Hellblasters x?

Chernovian Levy Astra Militarum battalion detachment - Vostroyan doctrine.

Company Commander - power sword, plasma pistol.

Company Commander - power fist

Infantry Squad - grenade launcher

Infantry Squad - grenade launcher

Infantry Squad - grenade launcher

Gothis Prime Adeptus Mechanicus patrol detachment - Stygies dogma

Techpriest Enginseer

Skitarii Rangers x5 - 2 transuranic arquebus's

Onager Dunecrawler - neutron laser

Depending what I take I have enough points for another small unit. Currently looking at an AstMil heavy weapon squad with lascannons, although they tend to get taken out turn one...

I find that the Hellblasters are just super good at everything, especially once they are in the Captain/Lt/Banner bubble.

On average a 10 man squad will put 18 wounds on even T8 3+ save units in one round of supercharged rapid firing... Actually slightly more if overheats kill anyone and they get to fire again due to the banner!

But the thought of a double firing Russ is very tempting. Especially with the Vostroyan +6" range ability and their +1 to hit stratagem. Also I can still repair it with the Enginseer if needs must.

So... thoughts?

20 hellblasters. you never take stuff in single. neither primaris nor LR[even with the change] are game winning units, but the chance that someones army won't be able to deal in an efficient matter with 20 of them  is much higher, then the chance of an army being unable to deal with 1 russ and 15 of them. by mixing your pro active in making your army be worse.
