Archetypes. The same reason that doubtlessly the Cadian 8th, the famed Lord Castellan's Own, would be reformed repeatedly because its name carries a weight for propaganda and intimidation purposes, no matter how many times it's lost in the warp or exploded to a man. Odds are the rebellious population may not care who Captain Thaddeus McArmy and the Cadian 357th are, but they may think twice about rebellion if they hear that the 8th and the hero of Cadia are coming for them. Xenos may not care, but it could be quite helpful for internal uprisings.

Same with any other named character. Pask may have died 57 years prior, so maybe the term became an honorific for Cadia's best tank Commander, much how the Lord Commander of the Imperium was called "Lord Guilliman" for quite some time as an honorific, even after Roboute was in stasis.

That, or excessive rejuvenation treatments.

That Afriel Strain sounds really interesting. Seems like the biggest problem they had was not using Sly Marbo. I wonder if this was poking fun at the trope about armies of super soldiers. Or, this being 40k,  the Imperium isn't allowed to have really cool things.

Precisely because Sly Marbo was not in the new AM codex (and I was thinking of him because they released rules for him at the end of 7th on Warhammer Community), I really want to use him for the Afriel Strain treatment.  I'm going to use Eversor Assassins as count-as for Sly Marbo clones (partly but not limited to meltabombs).

Seriously, I'm thinking of a Elites Detachment of 1 Enginseer HQ and a bunch of Sly Marbo clones as Eversors to represent an Afriel Strain project.  This is awesome.
