Just something weird about the wording for the Heavy Quad Launcher. It says "If this model is reduced to 0 wounds, roll a D6 before removing it from the battlefield, and before any embarked models disembark. On a 6+ it explodes, and each unit within 6" suffers D3 mortal wounds.".

Now, ignoring the obvious copy-paste from transports, it doesnt actually say anything about *which* model is reduced to 0 wounds. So, technically crew would explode.

Im not really going anywhere with this, I just thought it was kind of amusing. Though if someone is actually going to use that in a game, Id like to hear about it. :tongue.:

(and yeah, its not just the Quadlauncher, it seems to be every manned artillery piece. I just noticed it first on the Quadlauncher. )

If you take two separate guns, it doesn't require specifically its original crew models to be nearby to fire.  So you can keep one crew by the guns, continuing to fire both, while running the other crew (preferably composed of models holding the shells) forward as suicide troopers. :D

This is so dumb it's genius.

In the depths of their oldest archives, the Death Korp found references to an ancient weapon known as the "dreadsock". Lacking the STC for such a device, they improvised, to create... the EarthshakerSock!

Just because you don't have artillery doesn't mean those shells are useless. Just grab one standard Munitorum-issue infantry-class fabric-based-foot-undergarment, place one (1) artillery shell inside, and you're ready to slap a 'tic! Show those Orks with their so-called "tankhammers" that good old Imperial technology always wins!

Commissars may reprimand you for misusing Munitorum materials (posthumously, of course, at least if you did it right), but 9 out of 10 members of the Ecclesiarchy agree that upon your glorious death, you'll be personally be high-fived by the Emperor for your awesomeness.

One small problem is that it also says when shooting at this model the crew may only be targeted if it is the closest model to the firer.  So moving crew forward to shoot spot screen is actually really bad because if i say shoot the 3 forward guys i can carry the wounds back to the guys shooting the guns.  So while its not actually directly clear that this model refers to the gun its is clear though its not the crew.

Not necessarily. Its a seperate rule, and it seems like it should be "when firing at this unit" in any case. (since you could attempt to target the crew, and this rule would tell you that you cant if the gun is closer).

(besides, the whole point is that its rules lawyering to the ridiculous extreme, RAW all the way. Im *pretty* sure RAI is that only the guns explode. ;) )
