Kasper_Hawser
LOL. Is the same one to represent the audio drama "Art of Provocation"? Are they turning it into a novella or book? Personally although I like the smile, for some reason his face seems, I dunno, babyish? Could be my imagination, his cheeks just looks so rosy. thanks for sharing. Guest
Personally although I like the smile, for some reason his face seems, I dunno, babyish? Could be my imagination, his cheeks just looks so rosy. I think its the cheeks being to rosy and the fact it's such smooth skin with those perfectly curved round cheeks. I remember Russ was supposed to be extremely handsome but the weather and war had taken its toll and he look more barbaric. Lukas looks like he has never been hurt in battle with his skin not having the infamous cheek scarring from ashes/ember of even modern soldiers, and the deep scaring of what is to be expected in 40k. Leif Bearclaw
Eh, to be honest, the unscarred look kinda works for Lukas. He's essentially the SW's Loki after all. Escaping consequences like extreme scarring is entirely in keeping with the trickster/troll archetype. It might not make the most logical sense, but works thematically. Do we know when this book's set? This has the potential to be very interesting, but Gathering Storm and the awful plot advancement has left me with little interest in the 'Dark Imperium' timeline. I see a lot of anons here have little to no contact with people abusing large quantities of high % alcohol. Dude is not curved or round, he is swollen, and he is red in the exact same places someone who is on a 3 day trip would be, when the stomach says "no, I am no longer going to try to absorb and digest alcohol", and you enter a state where you can drink a bottle of vodka in one go, and it has no effect[when normaly it would kill an avarge man from shock]. I fear you are wrong about not being around people who consume large amounts of alcohol. I simply stated he has the same traits as a child giving him that appearance. Even :cuss faced people get the same effects as you said. Though I stand by my words he should have some light weather and combat scaring. Even the luckiest soldiers will have embers fall on their face and the luckiest outdoorsmen will have scars from the weather and flora. But seriously, why are we arguing about whether we know what drunk people look like? I certainly don't, but I'm not even saying that Lukas is drunk. I'm just saying that Lukas cheeks are so rosy and strangely unscarred. Then again, Space Wolves don't really put emphasis on ritualistic scaring like the White Scars. Even Leman Russ is strangely handsome and has great skin if he wasn't snarling. For all we know, Space Wolves during their healing periods also have their scars removed in addition to the usual critical surgery. Heck, come to think of it, if I look at all my Grey Hunter and Blood Claw heads, nobody really has obvious scars unlike some sternguard and tactical sergeant heads (like the one supposedly representing Captain Titus from the Space Marine game). Doesn't make our Wolves any less manly. The beards speak for themselves louder as much as a horrible scar. And I bet the Fenrisian ladies love themselves some Astartes meat when Lukas is feeling frisky. the jeske
I fear you are wrong about not being around people who consume large amounts of alcohol. The amounts are not as important as the % of alcohol they have. When I was just a kid and my dad worked at the ambessy in London, I accidently drank a jug of cider. My parents friends were horrified thinking I would die, wanted to take me to the hospital etc. When to me it felt like not sweet juice. I simply stated he has the same traits as a child giving him that appearance. I have never seen a normal child swollen or red like a drunk, well exept for TV and the anti vodka adds back in the 80s when I was still at school. He looks nothing like a child, has not qualities that a child face has. If anything he looks like a long haired private Schweyk to me. Wolf_Lord_Hardrada
I'm really not seeing the child comparison too strongly, as the jeske says, looks more like a guy who enjoys a beer or two...every few minutes. Any newborn can have flushed cheeks that will go away after a few months. Also first few year flushed cheeks are a sign of over-heating, tiredness, teething, sick. Then there is "slapped cheek syndrome" that is one of the most common in children and causes bright red cheeks. (not joking it is an actual disease) A child have flushed cheeks and swollen body is extremly common. My daughter had bright red cheeks for first 18 months even and people kept thinking she was sick. Hope your daughter was actually OK all the time. Funny thing though, for Chinese, rosy cheeks was always seen as "glowing with health" instead of the health risks you just mentioned. Better keep that in mind on the off chance (in frozen hell) that I marry and have kids.
