This started with Auspex Scan ( and the heretic astartes one i can never remember the name for) in codex marines.

But I've just stumbled across a great astra militarum one.

Take Cover!

1CP. One unit (no restrictions) gets +1 to saving throws in the enemy shooting phase.

Armour or Invulnerable. Very useful!

And if you like your old inquisition, ministorum priests and crusaders are in the IG codex, as IG units.

Which would unlock this strat. :)

Probably will be FAQed but untill then we have much better alternative to Heed the Prognosticars for uniting with Militarum Tempestus. I found some fun Adeptus Astartes stratagems. Like using Empyric Channeling. It clearly states Adeptus Astartes Psyker and <Chapter> Psyker. So we get +3 to cast which means manifesting Votex on 5+ roll and increasing it to d6 mortal wounds on roll of 9+.

Now normally I would say this is going to be errated to not work that way. But who knows, worse stuff was legal for whole editions. But man this opens so many can of worms. You guys just think about it. tyranids and IG can be run in the same army. soup lists are going to be the ally martix/super friends of 8th ed.

Probably will get FAQ'd. I'm pretty sure that Guard one specifies Astra Militarum unit.

Just double check the wording guys. Also I'm pretty sure the <Chapter> keyword can't be replaced by 'Grey Knight' anymore, now that we have our codex. Index only units are obviously excepted, but they're specifically called out in the Index.

Just use the allied strats on allied units (Hellblasters with Auspex Scan for example are scary as hell).

Nope. There no keyword on that guard strat.

And <chapter> can def be grey knights.

We just don't count as 'space marines' any more.

Nor do bangels or the others.

Edit. Pretty sure the space marine ones use the Adeptus Astartes keyword, which we have.

GW one again haven't underside how thier keyword system works.

And need to either change it entirely, or rewrite strats to be much stricter. If they want this to change.

Otherwise, I'm waiting for all imperial codexes to drop, to see if there's any gold to steal!

As predicted ;) also something I was thinking of previously, doesn't the little blurb in the Strategem section of each codex specifically state that 'the below Strategems may be used on units in your Battleforged army'. As in, only on the units in that detachment? I could be wrong but that's the impression I got from our codex at least.

I expect FAQ's will come out to mirror that Take Cover! ruling. It's quite obviously not the intent for your strategems to be shared, unless specifically allowed to do so (such as GW explicitly stating that DG can benefit from CSM ones).

Oh I'm well aware its legal, I just think its unintentional.

But like Commissars, I expect it will get attention either via an FAQ or Chapter Approved. The intention is clearly 'get your card deck that matches your faction'. So for my purposes I'm just using the GK strategems in our codex. I feel like unintended interactions will get removed as time goes on.

Aside from the deathguard faq that started this all off? With strats available to both c:csm and c:dg units.

GW wants some sharing, we've got no idea how far they want it to go though.

Yeah GW are never consistent about it. I think that share is somewhat logical, Death Guard are a subfaction of Chaos Marines directly. Whereas Grey Knights are only partially based off Astartes, they're more like Custodes in their level of specialisation, idiosyncratic methodology and relic technology.

That said, until clarified it is RAW to use Marine ones provided you have a Marine detachment. I suppose that's my other thing, I don't like taking allies in 8th. 2k is settling in as the standard game size, and its pretty punishing on GK (we can't take everything we need, and Brigade is basically impossible to fulfil). I also haven't really found I'm missing out not using 'allied' strats. The GK ones are pretty good, I must confess I use 'Psybolt Ammo', 'Psychic Onslaught' and 'Heed' most of the time.

They are way too expensive for GK. They sound amazing, but you aren't going to be killing anything with high toughness/armour with them. Hell, on average you can't even kill a 10 man squad of marines in cover with 40SB shots buffed with Psybolts + astral aim.
