Droz_64
Will they be a part of the existing lists, or they be a separate faction? If so, will they be in Book 8? 1ncarnadine
From how they've talked at weekenders before, I think the plan was to eventually split the Mechanicum and Astartes lists into Mechanicum/Dark Mechanicum and Loyal Astartes/Traitor Astartes. No idea if that's still happening but I think it's pretty likely that it will go that way eventually. Just a matter of when. And yes, the idea was that they would appear in Book 8 as their own list. With Alan's passing and the possibility that Daemons need a fuller list due to 8th, I have no idea. If I were to guess, the Dark Mechanicum list they intend to put into Book 8 is going to borrow heavily from the regular Mechanicum list but tweak a lot of the rules to represent the same Automata being powered by "warp entities" instead of Cybernetica Cortices, with maybe a select few brand new units, some new wargear, and a Sarum special character in the mix. But we'll see. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/340584-what-can-we-expect-in-the-way-of-dark-mechanicus/#findComment-4913048 Share on other sites
Charlo
I think we'll see something like a new version of Reductor or Cybernetica where it changes army organisation and in turn grants some special rules/ units. I'd also love it if they gave the Arch Magos a few more specialties that are only unlocked via dark Mechanicum but also not letting you access the traditional ones. From what I understood it's going to be more experimental and toe dipping into forces they do not know or cannot be explained, rather than OMG HERES A LOAD OF DAEMON ENGINES. Brofist
My guess would be removing Cybernetica Cortices and replacing them with the Daemon special rule Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/340584-what-can-we-expect-in-the-way-of-dark-mechanicus/#findComment-4915072 Share on other sites
Corswain
A crazy scorpion-body Magos!!! What else do you need to know!? At least according to some of the Weekender discussions. If he does actually happen, he rest of the range/rules will be unimportant - a Dark Mechanicus is going to happen for me! ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/340584-what-can-we-expect-in-the-way-of-dark-mechanicus/#findComment-4916003 Share on other sites

Last we heard his sculpt is mostly finished. I reckon they are just waiting for an appropriate release window. Tamwulf
Last I read anything, from like September I think during the Forge World Open Day, Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Nightlords (I think? was a Traitor Legion that was already detailed...), and Dark Mechanium were supposed to be in Book 8: Angelius. FW stated that work had not even been started on the book due to Alan Bligh's passing (lead writer for HH) and the update of the Imperial Armor books for 8th edition. At the same time, GW is reviving Specialist Games and pushing them onto Forge World for development. All this means that we probably won't see Book 8 until late 2019, maybe even 2020. Charlo
They've said it's next year in 2018 multiple times. Also it will have daemon in, or at least, special character/ units of daemons not covered by the basic army list (that is going to be in the generic heresy rulebook).
