Valhallan Infantry

Obviously the Valhallan Doctrine is pretty good for tanks, but how do people feel about it when it comes to infantry?

 

Do you think it's a decent/worthwhile bonus to have (compared to the other possibilities)?

Its definitely not bad, though if youre running all-infantry, you should probably have a couple of commissars hanging around, mitigating its usefulness. I think the infantry trait is probably most useful in a primarily tank-based list with a bit of infantry support, where you cant afford proper commissar coverage. Another possibility would be in a highly mobile list, where you expect your squads to be seperated and isolated at some point - getting a commissar for complete coverage would be nigh impossible in such a scenario, unless each squad gets its own commissar. In a pure gunline, or with large conscript hordes, its probably not *that* useful, though it might still help when your commissar gets sniped, or if you have to spread out more than you expected.

I think it opens up an interesting play style. Rush the enemy Valhallan Conscripts/Infantry squads, and then order your heavy weapon teams to fire into the combat. If you miss, well a conscript is only 3 pts, and stopping the opponent from shooting is well worth the opportunity cost.

It means Morale doesn't matter for ten man squads anymore, and helps Conscripts. Saves you points on Commissars, depending on build.

It works well with their strategem as well, considering the units you bring back onto the map will likely be far from a commissar.
