Macharius Tanks

Well for some dumb reason with the FAQ I only just realised that Renegades can actually select any of the Macharius variants, I was planning on getting one to use a a centrepiece model for a small Renegades force (probably 1.5K) but was generally curious if anyone's has used one before and which of the variants seemed better (I really like the sound of the Vulcan and Omega one which basically shove a Titan weapon on the chassis :D) Also any ideas on how to build a force around a centrepiece like the Macharius unsure on what to include with one

The Problem with the Macharius now are the Grinding Advance Rules for the Leman Russ, which leaves us with the Macharius Vulcan, because the double shooting the turret makes a Leman Russ just worth more for the points. If this rule is meant to be used by us Renegades is a matter of debate, but for my statement I include it to be at least part of our opponents army.

I used a Macharius Vulcan recently against Space Wolves (1,5k) consisting mostly of Primaris. The tank basically deleted a troop each round off the table. Depending on what you shoot it can be very efficient. Remember it is only -2AP unlike the real Titan gun. He made out his points, but I was not impressed. Still I will bring him from time to time. I tend to spam big hordes of infantry backed up by heavy fire (Earth Shakers and Leman Russ) to take out stronger units and swarm the survivors/smite them out. To be really good he has to stand still all the time, because you lose already half the shoots on the first roll.

I use the stubbers on the Vulcan to keep it cheap. It’s a nice unit for supporting an advance of close combat units. The high number of shots makes up for the BS 4+ to a certain degree. Too bad R&H has no way to buff units’ shooting abilities.
