Does Fix Bayonettes Prevent Shooting?

Basically as the title. I’ve seen people mention that for models with pistols they can still fire pistols along side fox bayonettes, but let’s say you’ve got Straken, a platoon commander and 2 infantry squads in close combat with an enemy unit. Straken and the two squads are all ordered to fix bayonettes and tear that enemy squad apart down to the last man, can they now all fire their rapid fire/heavy weapons at long range targets in the same phase?

 

Highly u likely situation I know but extremely beneficial if true. Might make you want to charge that second infantry squad into the combat if you know that they can finish them off with bayonettes.

Fix bayonets does not prevent shooting. If you kill all the units in close combat due to fix bayonets, you may shoot. If you Fix Bayonets, then fire pistol weapons to kill the rest, you may not shoot your other non pistol weapons, as during their shot in the shooting phase, they were not able to. And in case you were wondering, if you kill off the enemy in the psychic phase, you may shoot, and if you killed the enemy as a result of the Valhallen order you may shoot.

That’s very interesting. It’s probably way way too dangerous to be worth doing, but it could be fun to have Straken and Harker maybe with a priest and/or Psykers, bomb around with a bunch of burly jacked up catachans fixing bayonettes, then shooting, retooling 1s both times, and then charging into new combats.
