Do daemons need to be summoned or can they deploy with the rest of the army?

Nurglings have a specific rule regarding army set up (effectively they can infiltrate) and i dont recall seeing a specific rule saying 'these units MUST be held in reserve'

So what are peoples views?

You can daemons either:

 - deploy in their own detachment

 - mix with your marines in a detachment (prevents you from using legion traits/stratagems/warlord traits etc.)

 - summon them (doesn't prevent you from using your legion specific things even when summoned in the same detachment)

The problem with most Daemons is that they don't have the Death Guard key word like sfPanzer was stating. So starting with them on the board really penalizes you unless you are running them in a separate detachment. Which, to be honest, is not really a good choice. The Death Guard codex is so good that you really want to avoid non-Death Guard units because everything Death Guard related synergizes so well together.

If you really want to run Daemons though I would suggest just running a separate detachment of Nurgle Daemons.

Im mostly thinking about things like filling points to bulk out lists. Nurgligs are something like 2 power points but i wouldnt waste my time summonong them. Thus if i needed to fill the points then they might be usable as a destraction. Or a cheap objective camper

Also units like the flies would be better starting on the table rather than in reserve

I find summoning a real handy tactical tool tournament wise. you can get your reinforcements where you need them too and in the later turns you can use them to hold those objectives you need (nurslings and plaguebearers being object. sec.)

I fear it does not work that way. Summoned daemons are not part of a detachement, and until now only troops in a detachement get obsec
